Yes He Can, on Immigration
New York Times ^ | APRIL 5, 2014 | THE EDITORIAL BOARD

Posted on 04/06/2014 9:25:55 AM PDT by Second Amendment First

If President Obama means what he says about wanting an immigration system that reflects American values, helps the economy and taps the yearnings of millions of Americans-in-waiting, he is going to have to do something about it — soon and on his own. It has been frustrating to watch his yes-we-can promises on immigration reform fade to protestations of impotence and the blaming of others. All Mr. Obama has been saying lately is: No, in fact, we can’t, because Republicans and the law won’t let me.

Mr. Obama is correct when he complains that long-term immigration repairs have been throttled in Congress. Neo-nativist Republicans fixated on mass deportation have blocked a worthy bipartisan bill. But Mr. Obama has compounded this failure by clinging to a coldblooded strategy of ramped-up enforcement on the same people he has promised to help through legislation that he has failed to achieve.

With nearly two million removals in the last five years, the Obama administration is deporting people at a faster pace than has taken place under any other president. This enormously costly effort was meant to win Republican support for broader reform. But all it has done is add to the burden of fear, family disruption and lack of opportunity faced by 11 million people who cannot get right with the law. Because of Mr. Obama’s enforcement blitz, more than 5,000 children have ended up in foster care.

I am shocked!

Shocked by the comments of the liberals on this editorial, almost all of which savage the Times editorial board for being clueless about illegal immigration. I am surprised how many progressives hate obama's immigration reform ideas.

Pure lies. Obama has almost ceased internal deportations.

So, the New York Times is calling for Obama to act as a dictator - ignore the laws and do what the NY Times wants. How liberal of them. This is the same newspaper that supported Stalin and Castro. Why am I not surprised?

This right here is a bold faced lie. They count people turned away from the border points of entry in this number. I forget who reported it but it has been investigated. It shocks me to no end the slobbering media continues to report this completely unchallenged.

Now that ‘reform’ has been demonstrably refined as ‘destruction’ in the area of health care, can we launch a campaign for all sides to cease and desist using ‘reform’ in relation to immigration?

Moreover, if ‘reform’ is action, destructive or otherwise, then nothing being proposed represents action. Rather, it represents INACTION i.e. the volitional abandonment of Savage's Borders, Language and Culture.

I haven't heard a SINGLE Republican talking about mass deportation. NOT ONE. I would argue that I pay as much attention to politics as anybody you'll ever meet. NYT - you lying sack of fecal matter.

Open question to the editors of the NYT, and every bit as fair as the characterization above - Have you guys stopped beating your wives?

If President Obama means what he says about wanting an immigration system that reflects American values, helps the economy and taps the yearnings of millions of Americans-in-waiting,

That would mean he is going to start keeping his oath and enforcing the law.

I don't believe it will happen.

The boys and girls at the New Yawn Slimes are still rooting for the day when whitey is finally the minority in America so they print LIES like this for their commie "massas" up in the District of Corruption.

When you are counting people that are turned away at the border as being deported all your statistics are bogus. In fact all this administrations statistics have been proven lies. Why believe anything?

This editorial presages a big Obama initiative on immigration, i.e., a suspension of most deportations. It amounts to a de facto amnesty, which has been going on, sub rosa, for some time. No doubt the WH has been working with the NYT to give them a pretext and cover for acting.

Something "big and consequential" is coming prior to the midterms and maybe as early as this month to put pressure on the House to pass immigration legislation of some sort that can be used as a Trojan Horse for comprehensive immigration reform led by the likes of Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan.

Be very afraid

Everything Obama and the Dems do is a bald-faced lie, including the coordinated efforts of the NYT and the MSM.

They are hardcore Marxists who want to tear down the US at all costs.

Illegals need to be deported and the 14th Amendment to include the political allegiance of the parents, so birthright citizenship is ended as a de facto source of welfare.

I have it on good authority that every member of that editorial board lives either in New Canaan,CT or Chappaqua,NY...two of the richest (and whitest) residential communities on earth. If any of these brown skinned people were to ever be spotted in their neighborhoods after dark (they’re there during the day...mowing their lawns) the board would take an *entirely* different view of the subject.

If we have to support them despite their exploiting parents, foster care should be the rule. It is called taxation with representation... but do not expect the child support pimp mafya to approve that.

> Millions of Democrats in waiting they mean.

That will be converted into non-partisan voters who favor conservative values and vote R though they are registered as D’s because they are old to. If they give them amnesty it will backfire on them in time. They are too stupid to realize this.
