"Americas renowned climatologist, professor Lonnie Thompson in 2002 projected that the snow on the summit of Africas highest mountain would completely disappear between 2015 and 2020, thanks to global warming.
But 12 years down the lane now, local ecologists who have been monitoring the trend say the ice, in fact, remains steady and it is nowhere near extinction"

Extinct? Oh yeah I forgot Gaia lives.
Global warming must be real, the temperature here has gone up 50 degrees in the last 3 weeks.
Just for the fun I am going to derive a new word.
Don’t know what it means.

Maybe I am ignorant. I always thought that glaciers were supposed to melt.
It is a basic characteristic of glaciers. They do not move if they do not melt. If they do not melt, then they are basically solid frozen masses that so not move. Glaciers move. They have to melt to move. When they melt, they become smaller.
The Park and Forest Services, not to mention the Fish & Wildlife people, have been well indoctrinated with the junk science that prevails these days. I've spent my life studying past and present geology. I'm astounded almost daily, even here, by how little the majority of people know about their planet's processes, history and the ground they stand on.
Crap models = Crap results.
A frozen glacier cut Yosemite...solid granite, a mile thick.
These glacial apocalyptic iceholes are slower than a herd of turtles and number than a box of rocks...
Thank God Obama has saved us!!!
He has also stopped the rising of the seas, doncha know?
He’s a geologist.
Add me to the Al Gore list
Well, it's like this. Global warming reacts with the ozone layer, and raises the ambient air temperature, causing the Aurora Borealis and the Astralis Borealis to kind of scrunch together until it becomes the Kilimanjaro Borealis. This causes the atmosphere to cool, around the equator, and therefore it snows on the mountain. Never mind the mountain is around 19,000 feet. But then, you see, with no more Northern or Southern lights, the sun's radiation will then wipe out all life on earth in short order, so eat, drink and be merry, because tomorrow, global warming will kill us all. Any questions? :-)
BTW, if I need it, /s
Great photo. How did you get to the 9300 foot level?
We were at the 9300 foot level in Kenya driving down A104, the main road from Mombasa on the coast, through Nairobi and on to Uganda.
The photo is, of course, of Kilimanjaro. Not my photo. I spent several weeks in Tanzania flying ornithologists working with the UN Desert Locust Control organization, looking for Quelea nesting sites. We covered about 1/4 of Tanzania, flying much of the time at 50' AGL in order to spot the bird's nests. I was based in Nairobi and flew into Tanzania via the Kilimanjaro airport each trip.
Here is another family's photo (internet search- our photo of the family at this sign is buried in a shoebox somewhere) of the sign where the highway crosses the Equator. This is about 5 miles SE of the spot where we had the snowball fight. BTW, when the first European explorers to see Kilimanjaro told of its snow covered summit, they were dismissed as suffering sunstroke. "Snow cannot exist that close to the Equator!" I would not be surprise if some think we suffered from sunstroke, talking about a snowball fight in Kenya!
