Gov. Scott Walker looks to finish his college degree

Gov. Scott Walker is going back to school.

A spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Republican says Walker is looking to sew up a degree he abandoned 24 years ago when he was a senior at Milwaukee's Marquette University and left to accept a position with the American Red Cross.

Walker explained his struggle in finishing up his college education: "I kept thinking I'd go back, got married, had one kid, had another kid, next thing you know," he said, "you're worrying more about paying for your kids' college education than you are for your own."

I see personal attacks. I don't see reasoned discourse.

Walker reformed U W promoting distance learning. I hope he exploits thus so he can drive the educational libs crazy.

If he does get his degree, that would be icing on the cake.

“Or are you one of the Republicans that thinks amnesty guarantees the hispanic vote for a liberal GOP?”

That’s not reasoned discourse. So you’re a hypocrite as well.

He did pass the bar, though.

And Truman didn't pass the buck.

I asked a question. There are some here on FR that really believe that amnesty guarantees the hispanic vote for a liberal republican party.

So? Do you think that?

“I asked a question.”

And your question made no sense and had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING I SAID.

“So? Do you think that?”

I think I’ll just let you stew.

I do stews well. Especially under field conditions. My troops always loved them during cold weather. And I've fed lots of airmen in field conditions. Thanks.

I'm not your enemy. I am the enemy of those that want to cave before conflict ever happens. I am the enemy of those that borrow trouble about what 'people might think'. The GOP-E has declared me their enemy, and they would rather fight those like me, than liberal democrats.

Nope. Real cook, real vet, real conservative. If you were closer, I'd offer bread and beer to make peace.

God bless and keep you and yours. May your road be easy. May bread and beer cheer your way.

And may we crush the liberal bastards that oppose freedom.

Let them scream.

I finished my degree in May 2012 (college was the best 38 years of my life).

It was no joke (especially the distance learning part), and Walker should join me in inviting anyone who has anything to say about it to take notice of the sprig of mistletoe tied to my back belt loop.

Reagan had a degree in economics. I think Walker should do the same.

Great. I quit college when the professors went on strike. I went back and got it about 15 years ago.

The people of Wisconsin didn’t have a problem electing him as Governor without a degree.

The people of Wisconsin didn’t have a problem keeping him in office through a recall election without a degree.

Why should having or not having a degree be expected to play a major part in running for president?

Ask Walker. He’s the one who wants to finish the degree.

He probably won’t be taken seriously as a presidential contender without a degree. Hence, he is going back to school. I can’t blame him.

Jobs and Gates come to mind.

Good idea. Take the issue off the table for 2016.

No, finishing his degree at this late date only highlights the issue and shows undue respect for the educational establishment.

And the folks that will vote against him for not having a degree are all Democrats, anyway.

“Jobs and Gates come to mind.”

I doubt either one could ever have been elected president. Jobs was an a-hole no matter what genius he could claim and Gates had a reputation (well earned) as a thief and nerd.

Look, I’m not saying it matters to me that Walker doesn’t have a degree. I’m saying it matters to many other people. And clearly it matters to Walker himself - or else he wouldn’t be trying to finish his degree now.

I know a college in Milwaukee that would give him massive credit in “Business Management” for his experience in running Milwaukee County and the State of Wisconsin. Walker’s experience is worth a Masters degree, at least!

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
