Members of German civil society have written an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, condemning Russophobia in mass media and German political establishment while showing support for Moscow's actions in the ongoing Ukrainian crisis.
Retired German Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Jochen Scholz wrote an open letter to the Russian leader in response to the speech Putin made on March 18, 2014 at the reunification of Crimea with Russia. The letter was cosigned by hundreds of Germans including lawyers, journalists, doctors, servicemen, scholars, scientists, diplomats and historians.
In that letter the German intellectuals said that Putins speech appealed directly to the German people and deserved a positive response that corresponds to the true feelings of Germans.
The letter acknowledges that the Soviet Union indeed played a decisive role in the liberation of Europe from Nazi Germany and supported the reunification of Germany and its ascension into NATO after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact.
Then US President George Bush Sr. had given assurances to Russia that NATO will not expand eastward, and yet despite Moscow's show of trust, the US and its allies violated that commitment, Scholz says.

Ah, the German “intellectuals”.
Guess they miss the good old days with the Fuhrer and Putin brings back memories of the Sudetenland.
UStream live stream from “Russian” Donetsk is back up, on the barricades in Central Donetsk.
Seems they are trying to negotiate with a Ukrainian officer at the moment.

I’m back in Donetsk and around City Hall as reports swirl it’s going to be stormed.
Gees, I don’t know. I’ll give them a call and ask. Boy, my buddies are just out of control.
The sheeple mostly have no clue.
International banking is quietly behind the scenes of the West, Russia and Asia - the whole world.
All world leaders know this. None of them can say it publicly.
The bankers give their vassals some latitude to jockey for geopolitical position.
But this is all just the “grand game” of geopolitics, a game run by the bankers.
So, with national leaders, the pot calls the kettle black.
But they’re all vassals.
They try to balance a) the bankers wicked commands and schemes against b) their own self-interest and c) trying to do the right thing for the people of their nation.
Needless to say the last on that list is touted publicly very loudly, but privately ignored, if not actively worked against. Of course, the first two on that list are never mentioned publicly.
Note that Russia now uses the “commonwealth” model as done by the UK and Europe.
Here’s an upcoming banking conference:

From a finance/banking perspective, the guys in London are “where it’s at”.
All media today is controlled by one power or another. In reading all sides of the issues is just smart in order to understand the playing field they are operating on.
Bringing opposing views to FR allows people to form their own opinions of what is actually happening....and it often exposes the lies for Freepers who dig for the truth.
When you stop debate and the free flow of information, regardless if you agree or not, then truth is silenced.
To point to any particular media as being biased is silly because they all are.
Typical Daily Kos debate tactics. [snort]
Yep...it’s the same ones...and some are fully anti-Russian to the core....so they are blinded by their own bias.
I enjoy greatly Freepers seeking what’s happening in the here and now, and where nations stand....history is good to know but nations change....and not always for the better...who would of thought the USA would be promoting killing the unborn on an international scale!....or removing prayers from our schools and the symbols of Christianity in our nation?
Our Government is removing these...Russia is putting them up, regardless if they believe in it or not, or their motives.....
You remind me of the bozos who years ago said there was no difference between the US and the USSR. Or the ones who said there was no difference between authoritarian regimes and totalitarian ones. Critical thinking means we recognize differences. Moral equivalence or saying everything is the same is just intellectually lazy. If you want to believe that one power or another controls the media, then buy into the conspiracy. That’s for you, not smart people. Believe that FOX News is the same as CBS because Obama controls them, in your mind.
Do you hate America?
I tend to lean toward what you are saying in your post.....politicians will always snuggle up to Bankers and those with Money..from the banks to the Oligarchs will snuggle up to those in power....Arrangements can be made from loosing regulations to seating those in power.
The Global Summit is today...take special note of the second topic.....interesting way to say they want to slip their fingers into every mans pocket.
The Summit will focus on three broad topics:
1. Examining megatrends that will exert a strong influence on the evolution of the global economy over the next 20 to 30 years;
2. ‘Developing a robust financial system’ that can ‘move private sector money from the crowd,...... to where it is needed to finance commercially viable enterprises and projects.
3. Fostering new business models for deploying technology, products, and services from where they have been invented and deployed initially to new markets where they can be used to exploit opportunities generated by global mega-trends.
I don't need to read Russian state-owned media to form an opinion. And that's not an example of "bias," unless you feel like suggesting my lack of desire to read MSNBC is the same.
.....”Do you hate America?”.....
I wouldn’t be fighting for the US to return to it’s Constitution if I didn’t. Nor would I be enjoying the fellowship of Freepers here on FR as I generally do.
As for how the US is being led ‘today’...yes, I ‘hate’ what this Administration is doing to my country....it is not the country I love when they’re succeeding at changing the face and heart of this nation to something else entirely.
We all should be concerned when our nations politicians no longer support out national interests and the focus has become Europe’s Agenda which we are financing.
Interesting that you would ask any Freeper if they “hate America”......Americans would generally ask “Do you love America”? in the positive.
You’ll note that not ONE of his ID’s has yet to make an actual comment about the article??
Things were bleak in the 60's, 70's, and 80's for America and for conservatives. It's easy to forget that there were few conservative leaders that mattered in the US. But event then, when conservatives were weak, it was the Left who constantly carped about American and chided its people and its institutions. Yet many of us didn't give up on America and we never will.
Everything that's wrong with America today can be made better. It won't help the conservative brand or America if many conservatives spout more anger at America and if they embrace an ugly autocrat as some type of preferred alternative to the USA. I love America, and Obama cannot turn me against my country or for Putin.
Well since you don’t... then how do you know what they are saying on a given matter....simply because our media says so?
I prefer to know what both sides are saying..and reporting..and filming etc. because along the way the truth comes into view. It’s not about supporting one side or another...though hard not to oppose what ones convictions are and keep seeking the truth.
I choose to read these articles and other media because it gives a broader view of the players in the field while IN the heat of whatever event is taking place.
International Affairs run differently then our media which often focuses simply on Democrats and Republicans views...and their differences....if you already know their differences then it really isn’t necessary to always follow....we generally know how those teams play.
But on the World Stage it’s in a constant trajectory of powers and alliances shifting and moving about.....the “pulse” can change without notice, and more often then not insufficiently reported in our MSM if at all.
Well, I hope I’ve made my point...
I have for years expounded on the influence of international bankers on wars involving the USA and Europe. This goes especially from the time of the west Europe bankers, primarily the Rothchilds, in the Bolshevik takeover of Russia from the Czars, to the formation of the WW1 era League of Nations with much help from the USA President Wilson. It was also Wilson who brought to the USA a European banker who set up the Federal Reserve which is not a real USA Constitutional bank. Then fast forward to the WWII and post era where/when the Rothchilds were very active in promoting the Rockefeller UN along with the likes of Soros and other money/monetary controllers. Money has always been a mindful element in the lives of people from Jesus and the money changers in the temples to today’s money changers in governments along with so called ‘private’ capital venturers. Makes a person think that perhaps the old saying of ‘the root of all evil’ is a side of life’s coin or die.
Looks like they just travel the threads looking for any they can ‘boot’ around....sounds rather Russian doesn’t it? LOLOLOL
