White House denies presence of US mercenaries in southeastern Ukraine

U.S. mercenaries are not involved in suppressing riots in southeastern Ukraine, the White House said on Tuesday, citing the Greystone private military organization.

"I would point you to what the company [Greystone] itself has said in the past, which is that this is not true," White House press secretary Jay Carney said at a press conference.

Of course the White House is going to publicly deny that they have placed mercenaries in the Ukraine. I wouldn’t expect anything different from them. That doesn’t mean they didn’t do it, however.

If the definition of “mercenary” is a paid private contractor, and they are not employed by Ukraine, then I’ll surmise that these operatives are direct US govt paid.
