Attorney General Eric Holder has infuriated U.S. Assistant Attorneys by not waiting for the U.S. Sentencing Commission to recommend reductions of sentencing guidelines for drug offenders and pushing them to prosecute based on his new guidelines. “We do not join with others who regard our federal justice system as ‘broken’ or in need of major reconstruction,” the National Association of U.S. Assistant Attorneys said in a letter to Mr. Holder in January. “Instead we consider the current federal mandatory minimum sentence framework well constructed and worth preserving.” In August, Mr. Holder unveiled his “Smart on Crime” initiative, seeking to “reserve

I will enjoy the day Eric Holder is frog-marched to jail, or better yet, is Waco’d for not turning himself in.

Holder works in the executive branch but is working to seize both legislative and judicial powers.

Just another law to be rewritten by executive fiat.

Oh wait - those who accuse me of being a Putinista don’t bother to see the extent to which Obama flouts the law.

And he is far worse cuz he has no constitutional warrant to do what he is doing - and neither does Holder.

I support the changes but not the way it is being done. This is the problem with Liberals. They dont care how it is done, as long as it is done. They are all for “the rules” until it gets in the way of their agenda. Then they claim “flexibility” and simply do what they want, how they want.

This is the most lawless Administration since Nixon. I often wondered what it was like under the Nixon administration. Never once did I ask to live it.

While I question the constitutionality of “mandatory” sentencing, and strongly oppose it, anything that ramps-off Eric Holder makes me smile.

Many times worse than Nixon. Nixon loved his country.

I think it's much worse than Nixon. In the future they'll be saying "this is the most lawless administration since Obama."

“We do not join with others who regard our federal justice system as ‘broken’ or in need of major reconstruction,” the National Association of U.S. Assistant Attorneys.....

Looks like the UA Attorneys are a delusional as Holdbama.

“Instead we consider the current federal mandatory minimum sentence framework well constructed and worth preserving.”

Especially if you are a prison guard or any of the other professions that rely on a huge constant stream of non-violent felons to protect your paycheck.

Actually the whole WOD needs a complete revamp. It'll never happen because too many paychecks rely on the current broken system. It's especially good for drug cops who get to take all that cash and neat confiscated goodies home.

The time has come to impeach him. This man does not make the rules alone. There are rules in place for him to follow. If he chooses not to follow them, it’s time for a replacement. Impeach him now before he and Obama ruin everything. Either that, or make him comply to the rules in place.

I very much agree with you about changes to the sentencing system, but it is also clear that most libs are in denial about why mandatory minimums came about. It was the abuse of discretion that brought them about, and it is the current admins abuse of discretion that will handicap all future admins

E.G. There may have been extenuating circumstances, but why did the guy convicted of grand theft auto only get community service?
