Steve Allen! I’d forgotten that he was the originator of the Tonight Show. What a genius!

Amen FReeper!
One of the best there ever was.

I was pretty young when Jack Paar was on. A big part of the attraction, I think, was that it was a special privilege to be able to be able to watch the show. Usually my parents would let me watch the first 15 minutes if I was still awake but sometimes I could make myself invisible and make it much further into the show.

Yes, Carson was good also. After that, not so much.

You can give it a French spin, but it’s still pigeon crap!

So they replaced one worthless pile of trash with another one. Johnny Carson passed over Letterman for a reason. He was not wrong.

I miss Johnny.

Limbaugh is King of Hyperbole. I haven’t taken him seriously in many many many years. Just another news entertainment blowhard.

Bingo. Rush is only interested in whatever will get him the most attention.

Charleston, SC born and raised Colbert likes to brag about going to speech classes to get rid of his “southern accent”. What little southern accent Charleston natives even have was too much for him. He said he didn’t like people to think he was stupid for being a southerner. A real jerk in every sense of the word.

A person on my local newspaper site praised Colbert for his “progressive credentials” but worried that he might not “stay on message” and “deliver the correct political line.” This person obviously expects late-night comedians to be political activists and shills for Democratic politicians and policies.

Of course, but nobody confuses Conan O’Brien for a political pundit.

Because Rush’s entertainment genre is politics, too many believe that he actually believes the stuff he says. That’s bad for us as a movement.
