Anybody with two or more brain cells wants to rid us of ‘ol Boner.
Dickinson was a good man but as Adams put it, his Olive Branch Petition put a “silly cast to our doings.”
Dickinson was a Quaker and absented himself from the vote when he knew it was inevitable. He later freed his own slaves.
You reinforce my point. History little remembers our elected representatives who made their career attempting to straddle the middle.
Dickinson absented himself because he did not wish to risk the anger of his fellow citizens by voting “no” nor risk his life, liberty and personal possessions to the crown by voting “yes”. In short, he was a feckless punk looking out only for himself and who only later had an attack of conscience and freed his slaves.
He fails the test of time. That is why there are no high schools, post offices, nor public facades bearing his name.
“You are making a mistake supporting progressive Republicans. “
I did not say that! The people of NH get to decide, not me. But if it’s Brown or Shaheen, do you really want Shaheen?
Bring back “The Hammer”!!!!!!
You’re right that Dickinson isn’t remembered except by people like us. It’s just that as a historian steeped in those times, I recognize that those decisions were not easy ones to make. They were indeed times that tried one’s souls.
THESE are also times that try one’s soul.
The entire leadership needs to be ousted. This should’ve been done a long time ago. Boehner, Cantor, McCarthy, et al... (and the Senate, too).
I am doing just that.
Plus, of course, my “Kowboy Keyboarding!”
I believe Boehner is less likely than Cantor, Gowdy, Labrador or Mulvaney to be able to pull off amnesty.
Gowdy has also said he may not be around for too long because he didn’t want the Senate seat.

Boehner is not considered someone who is an active adversary. Cantor can be seen on immigration and a lot of other things as someone who is very resentful of what would be the patriot Republican right.
Scott Brown is against amnesty. He has called the Dream Act backdoor amnesty. Scott Brown understands that if he panders it is better to pander to women not Latinos.
