U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell now has an endorsement to go with his gun.

The National Rifle Association's political action committee announced Friday it has endorsed McConnell in the May 20 Republican primary. McConnell made headlines last month when he appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference waving a rifle over his head. The rifle was a lifetime achievement award McConnell presented to U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.

In a news release, NRA Political Victory Fund chairman Chris Cox called McConnell a true champion of the Second Amendment.

Likely Democratic nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes mocked McConnell, saying he was holding the gun wrong and tweeted: "KY women do it better."

The Gun Owners of America has endorsed McConnell's GOP primary challenger Matt....

Just when they get it right, they break it.

Bevin threw himself under the bus. I really don’t see an alternative for NRA, or anybody else. The cockfighting thing pretty well did it for Bevin.

There’s no good guy in that race. Matt Bevin is a pro-amnesty phony.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that ultimately the NRA decided not to endorse Reid. Still, endorsing McConnell is bad enough. (I am not an NRA member, by the way.)

You are not wrong. But as they say, a lie goes around the world before the truth gets it’s pants on. And no matter how many times they are corrected some folks just keep repeating the old lie.

The NRA is about as useless as most anything else now.

Years ago, I joined the NRA as a life member.

Their present political agenda is why I now throw all of their requests for money in the trash can.

And I no longer read their mag.

The only reason they didn't, at the last minute, was because people like me called and quit after decades because of the assumed Reid endorsement as well as two lousy dems they did endorse in my state.

I placed an order with Midway USA earlier today:
“Do you want to `round-up’ for the NRA?”
No.

I haven’t been a member since 2010 when they endorsed Democrats over pro-gun Republicans. The NRA is GOP-e, but they have a lot of supporters here.

Now, there will be some who will cry that they need to cancel membership.

I dropped the NRA years ago when they endorsed Reid. They are just like the GOPe, slimy and untrustworthy.
