Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) said Thursday that giving the estimated 12 million illegal aliens in the United States a path to citizenship will result in an increase in Democrat voters and will spell doom for the Republican Party’s presidential aspirations.

“[Illegal aliens are] not going to come out of Mexico and become Libertarians,” Stockman told CNSNews.com at an immigration radio town hall event on Thursday in Washington, D.C. “It’s not going to happen.”

Stockman said his state is a bellwether for the future of the GOP if amnesty becomes the law of the land.

“Being from Texas, I can assure you it won’t help us,” Stockman said. “It will lose Texas, and once you lose Texas, the Republicans will never win another presidential election.” …

Its actually a simple issue for republicans. Refuse to talk about amnesty till we see solid and proven border control and security that can’t be easily dismantled.

After all, illegals are creating their own amnesty since they just keep coming back over an open border.

Whomever thought that it would be a good idea for Republicans to dwell on the amnesty debate for the coming elections is a fool. Every Republican, Tea Party or GOPe should pass amnesty off as irrelevant until we start enforcing present immigration laws, and work on improving border security. In short, before we even discuss amnesty, there are things that have to be worked out.

Republicans need to stop being baited into leftist talking points, where they lose even if they win.

Exactly my point and it really is irrelevant while the border remains wide open. The border should be the focus of republicans right now.

There should be zero amnesty....charge them with a felony, deport them as “persona non grata” and forbid them reentry for life.

They should take their anchor baby children with them. It is time to end jus soli as well.

Stockman said the home builders were asking why doesn’t he support amnesty. He asked them why they don’t look towards business friendly California if they want open borders.

I believe Stockman is 100% correct but IMO this country is getting ready to erupt into CWII. Amnesty will be the last thing on anybody’s mind.

This thing going on out in Nevada is just symptomatic of what is bubbling under the surface everywhere in the country.

Well DUH..which is why Dems want amnesty SO badly..it would mean that they would not have to rely on dead voters anymore..they would be able to win elections legit..but some in the GOP are too damn stupid to see the forest through the trees to realize that

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

The failed promises of border control in the 1986 amnesty should make that a given. No more promises. Show me.

I believe America has already elected its last Republican president ... Amnesty for the 25-30 million illegals already in this country and who knows how many more who haven’t yet crossed will eliminate all doubt.

I was at a convenience store in Dallas today. I parked in front and an old Pathfinder with about 10 Mexicans pulled in next to me. I got out as did this little Mexican dude. I eyeballed him and he did right back. Kind of like he was saying yea what do you want, what are you gonna do about it?

The invasion is on and our elected reps are doing nothing, the question is what are YOU gonna do about it?. Get ready folks, it’s about to be ON!
