Shocking Allegations Show Harry Reid, Chinese Company Behind Nevada Ranch Standoff
Western Journalism ^ | April 2014 | B. Christopher Agee

The ranch, which has been in Cliven Bundy’s family for more than a century, is ground zero for a growing showdown between federal authorities and individual rights activists.

As a family in Clark County, Nev. continues to face an onslaught of heavily armed federal agents determined to kick them off of their ranch, reports have surfaced that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid might be behind the entire ordeal.

The ranch, which has been in Cliven Bundy’s family for more than a century, is ground zero for a growing showdown between federal authorities and individual rights activists. Despite attempting to silence protesters by limiting them to so-called “First Amendment areas,” law enforcement personnel, legislators, and militia members are heading to the site in droves to express their outrage over the Bureau of Land Management’s show of force.

In an apparent effort to cover its tracks, the BLM has reportedly removed documents from its website showing that the move to kick the Bundys and their cattle off of the land was at least in part due to the fact that their presence impeded development of solar energy on the land.

That is really amazing, but not really so surprising.

“they” have absolutely NO RESPECT for ‘us’ and everything they do is (seemingly) more ‘in your face’ than the previous idiotic gesture.

As to the ‘news’ no mention was made of the ‘help’, I don’t think they mentioned the cattle angle (rustling) either.
-At least I didn’t hear it and I was (sort of) paying attention.

The station I was referencing is WRC4 (NBC) Washington DC

Yes. Federal action, Federal Land, Federal Court order, asset forfeiture. Only Marshals. The court does not hire this out. It was a bluff.

There were claims that when Nevada entered the Union the citizens agreed that most of the States land would belong to the Federal government.

All land excepting the original 13 states belonged to the United States as that land was acquired. In general, the United States recognized existing private land grants and registrations in places like Louisiana, California, etc. The disposition of land was generally spelled out in the terms of admission to the Union. Texas, which entered as a sovereign nation, agreed to cede to the federal government land in what is now New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas but kept the rest, within the current boundaries of the state.

This was not done in other states, so unallocated land is owned by the federal government. The government was initially happy to sell it, but there weren't many buyers and people freely ranged their cattle on it (the open range). Now, the government wants all people off the land, except of course, certain privileged elite, who bribe the right politician. Ranchers, in particular, are no longer welcome.

"Waiting to hear this on the main stream media"

The media doesn't have anything to do with it, it is the judge.

Solar farms, oil wells, communication towers, etc are irrelevant because these are multiple use lands. There are no set-asides and this was argued out in the 19th century by John Muir versus Gilbert Pinchot Also grazing leases are not granted in perpetuity.

Grazing rights are for only grazing rights, nothing else. And occasionally disputes arise over recreational rights.

So the grazing rights holder that builds/operates a Dude Ranch on the lease will likely be in big trouble. OTOH, it is near impossible to stop a grazing rights holder from charging someone a fee to hunt on the lease. OTOH, the lease holder who tries to limit access to the multiple use lands by hunters will likely end up in court. And sometimes the disputes arise merely for traveling over the lease.

You have stated what in my mind is the case.

Apparently the law suits in the past did not properly address the issue of Nevada ownership of the land. My gut feeling is that Nevada will not claim the land and thus not vindicate Mr Bundy.

We will see.

Apparently the claims to Feds by the different states will not be the same. I thought BLM was tasked with managing all western properties not sold or rather not bought by citizens.

A case in point and strong precedent is in adjacent Utah where bubba Clinton declared Federal land under BLM control off limits for development and in effect a new very large National Park called The Grand Staircase Escalante. Unlike all other such national parks/monuments, the Grand Staircase is under management of the BLM, not the National Park Service.

The maneuver effectively removed very large coal reserves from production.

Las Vegas? Where there's gambling, alcohol in abundance and prostitution? I'm shocked!

Federal policy and behavior regarding public lands has shifted dramatically in the past 20 years. The Democrats have embraced the environmental lobby and are doing their bidding. The Republicans aren’t much of an obstacle as they don’t want to upset their suburban base who embrace all of the “saving the planet” propaganda.

Much of this is in direct violation of federal law and existing regulation. The left uses the differences that govern each state’s public lands and unrelated laws and regulations to impose their will.

They don’t want ranching, mining, foresting, or energy extraction on lands that belong to us. The only exception to this are the so called “green energy” scams. If you want to jump onto a get rich quick scheme, that’s the place to look.

If the offered price was 1/10 the appraised price, it's a straight out greed-based power trip. The PTB (powers that be) could probably have used eminent domain if they were willing to come up with a market appraised price of $40 million. I read elsewhere that the Bundy's refused some low-ball offers

Thanks for pointing that out, I seem to recall reading or hearing about that too.

Just wondering though, if they went the imminent domain route, wouldn't the purpose of why have to be revealed?

I could see Reid throwing some fits over that!!

It would be interesting to know the name of this Chinese company...and, if this particular company has received any other sweetheart deals...or, just US business in general.

Maybe an onslaught of online and in-person protesting against the Chinese company would embarrass it. The Chinese like to keep things quiet and in stealth mode.

Maybe we should go all Chic-fil-a on them.

I believe the point being (or trying to be) made is “WHY give the ‘plum’ to not only a LIB stronghold BUT also to a Harry Reid stronghold?”
“Are ‘they’ trying to curry favor from Reid, if that is the case, you know he will ‘smile’ at them prior to thrusting his knife into their collective back?”

Amen, and I would not be surprised if that vermin Reid and his raunchy family are behind most of this.

And the GOP is going to Las Vegas for its convention!

Six cities are in the running for the convention: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, and Las Vegas. I do not support the RNC, so I have little say or care about what they do.

Interesting.
A threat of violence, death of cattle, and disruption/destruction of family & business, just for sake of environmentalist bureaucratic paperwork.

So what? It's SOLAR...

The green part, and the tax base increase to the state would be emphasized; the broker connection of Reid's son would be downplayed. I think it would likely fly.

" I think this was an illegal action and was all bluff by BLM."

It was BUREAUCRATIC FIAT by BLM.

Sure, BLM had a court finding that Bundy was using the land illegally. And there was an order issued to Bundy to pay the fees and remove a large portion of his herd.

But I challenge anyone to show a court order to BLM or any other agency to round up those cows and seal access to 600,000 acres of the peoples land!

BLM ASSUMED this authority for themselves and decided to enforce the law with their own hit squad.

And, if anyone had been hurt it would be the obligation of every patriot in America to hunt these men down, then hang them in the public square.
