Dark side of ND's oil boom: Meth, heroin, cartels _ all part of growing drug trade
Star Tribune ^ | 4-14-14 | Administration Propaganda

WILLISTON, N.D. — The blood-drenched man had survived a brutal attack: Beaten with brass knuckles, shocked with a stun gun, slashed with a razor blade, then dumped 40 miles away in Montana, he staggered to a farmhouse for help. His path eventually led authorities back to a quiet backyard in this oil boom town. What they uncovered was a large-scale methamphetamine ring that had found a home in a state long known for its small-town solitude, its slow pace and peaceful pastures. The members of this violent gang were all relative newcomers to Williston. They called themselves "The Family," the feds say, and were holed up in a few campers tucked behind an innocent-looking, white-frame house. They had plenty of firepower, too: One of the men had an arsenal of 22 weapons.

Unlike high speed trains or similar benelovlent and cost-effective government projects, any job created by 'big oil' brings nothing but evil.

The drugs and vices spotlighted by the author represent the dark side of human nature. Oil is just his target of choice, in hopes of convincing the morons who comprise his readership that oil started it all. Like a similar boom in any of his favorite “green” industries would be pure. What a douche.

Not only that, they’re trying to stop the mining of sand in southeastern Minnesota that’s used in fracking operations.

Beaten with brass knuckles, shocked with a stun gun, slashed with a razor blade,

Sounds like a SWAT team “no knock” raid.

"More than 40 people have been charged with dealing heroin and meth in on and around the Fort Berthold reservation,...Among the accused: residents of California and Colorado alleged to have been a drug connection for local dealers."

I always wonder who uses all these drugs. I personally don’t know anyone who does. Everyone seems to be functioning. Apparently those who use drugs use a hell of a lot of it.

Where there is a lot of money being made there are a lot of people trying to steal it or make money off of it.

This is something new?

We just haven’t passed the right drug law that has the right magic words in it. Once we do that, low-lives will stop abusing drugs.

It’s a boom town. Boom towns are nuts.

If I was 15 years younger, I would give it a go for a year or so. Not now with a family.

It will settle down or crash sooner or later. Either the shale will run out, or things will catch up and instead of man camps you end up with housing developments.
