Seen several tweets of this over the last hour, and now this vid of the defection is posted on YouTube.
The column had apparently been surrounded by several hundred pro-Russian civilians inside of Kramatorsk, with several older women linked arm-in-arm to prevent it's passing
At about 8:50, you can see the commander arguing with someone on the phone..
The Maidan regime cannot even count on the loyalty of the army. It was told to open fire on armed terrorists but instead encountered civilians. It has no legitimacy to conduct any kind of crackdown. Fortunately the Ukrainian army wants no part of this “operation.”
This is exactly like the “operation” the Communist coup regime ordered in 1991 in Russia. Army and police units would not obey orders to open fire on the people. It collapsed within a fortnight and the rest as they say, was history. Again the crisis in Ukraine has nothing and has everything to do with Russia. Putin does not even need to lift a finger; events in Ukraine are going in his direction.
For that, the “leaders” in Kiev have only themselves to blame.
It’s primary victims were the Ukrainians. After all, they were the breadbasket of Europe. It was from them that the Soviets wanted to squeeze out all the grain to sell for foreign capital.
I’m not thanking Obama for anything. I realize Putin see a clown and is taking advantage of Obama. That’s a given. But it’s like a thief stealing from a naive boob. The thief is still a thief even if the naive boob is a naive boob.
This will get ugly in the next few days as the rule of engagement become more clear. Then, you’ll say the loyalty of the army is criminal. You’ll always be a Putinista.

There is a real vein of anti-Americanism in these Putinistas. Not all of them but clearly many. They even throw around the same epithets the left does.
I grew up in Berkeley and had a front row seat for all the fruits and nuts there. The KGB thug triumphalist worship is just as nutty as anything I saw in Berkeley. Larouche, Jews for Jesus, Black Muslim bakery, etc., etc. These Putin bootlickers would be right at home swapping stories at Revolution bookstore on Telegraph.

I’ve said the same thing, too. They remind me very much of the Left and loony accusations. Many of the Putinistas have gone from hating Obama, a pretty understandable thing given his partisan and racial tactics, to hating America. Maybe someday they’ll get past it.

So, the first thing the new legislature did wasn’t to demote Russian language and culture as part of their new policy. Yatseyuk vetoed it, but it did happen. Then he said Ukrainian should be the Official State Language.
Right Sector never issued that statement calling for the “total Ukrainization” of the country?

What fact are you talking about? The militants and unidentified soldiers in green fatigues, or the granny human shields? Or is it the polling data showing the majority of East Ukrainians dont want Putin? Think rationally
