Iranian Caught Stealing Plans for DOD’s $1.5 Trillion Jet
The Fiscal Times ^ | January 16, 2014 | David Francis

Posted on 04/16/2014 7:00:23 AM PDT by WhiskeyX

Mozaffar Khazaee, a dual U.S.-Iranian citizen who worked for defense contractor Pratt & Whitney, was arrested last week for allegedly trying to smuggle boxes of documents related to the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the plane expected to be the Pentagon’s next generation fighter jet. He was picked up in New Jersey on his way to Iran.

The article does not indicate what classified security documents may already have been smuggled out of the United States to Iran.

You know, I wouldn't want to be accused of profiling or anything, but maybe it's not such a very good idea to have citizens of enemy countries working on the U.S. defense systems.

Just a thought. Anybody with me?

DOD diversity mandates on defense contractors at its best!

Based on the title, I half expected this story to be about Air Force One and all the vacation flights it has taken and will take for the Dear Leader. I mean, that’s got to be about $1.5T over the 8 years, right?

Smuggling documents? What, he couldn't afford a scanner and usb flash drive? Or a dvd-r drive and a bit of postage?

I suppose you could be so paranoid that you don't trust email or postage, but then to be so stupid as to try and carry the actual documents abroad seems unlikely.

Boxes of documents? That’s strange. Engineering drawings, specifications, and such are almost entirely digital these days. A thumb drive would be much easier to conceal than boxes of documents. Either this Iranian is an idiot, or something isn’t quite right. Why would anyone ship boxes of documents versus a DVD or thumb drive? Maybe these “brochures and manuals” were training guides or sales brochures. That sort of stuff isn’t going to be in depth enough to actually build an F-35. Again, hmmm. This may be more innocent than the article implies unless the brochures and manuals were actually classified. Did I miss mention that they were classified in the article?

Damn straight. That's where one of the lead designers of the B-2 Stealth bomber is, you know.

American companies hire foreigners like Chinese and Russians all the time. Anyone thinking our secrets on the F-35 are safe is delusional.

“a dual U.S.-Iranian citizen...”

Nothing like divided loyalties in sensitive positions. Reminds me of a politician formerly known as Steve Dunham — Barry Soebarkah.
