A popular online dictionary offers four definitions for the word “bushed.”
The first is “overgrown with bushes.” The second is “exhausted, tired out.” The third is a Canadian colloquialism meaning “mentally unbalanced as a result of prolonged residence in a sparsely inhabited region.”
Each of these definitions seems to describe the Republican Party’s feeling about the Bush family. If that’s not true and the GOP nominates Jeb Bush for president — the third Bush since 1988 — then perhaps the fourth definition applies: “unable to find one’s direction; lost; confused.”
There’s a case to be made that George H.W. Bush is an underrated president, especially compared to the mediocrities and worse who have occupied the White House in recent years. In fact, I’ve made that case. But Bush 41, like Richard Nixon, mostly combined shrewd foreign-policy dealings with liberal domestic policy achievements.
It’s no accident that a recent New York Times reappraisal of Papa Bush’s single term in office mostly features Democrats — and a longtime Bush family employee — singing his praises.
George W. Bush promoted some conservative domestic policies, though they were largely the right-wing equivalent of school uniforms and midnight basketball. His tax cuts and pro-life initiatives were coupled with massive federal spending, including the biggest new entitlement program since LBJ. And of course his Iraq war was a a blunder that derailed his presidency.

George Bush wanted to be chosen for vice-president when Spiro Anew resigned, but Nixon instead chose Gerald Ford. George Bush wanted to be chosen vice-president when Richard Nixon resigned but Gerald Ford instead chose Nelson Rockefeller. George Bush wanted to be chosen to be vice-president when Gerald Ford was running in 1976, but Ford instead chose Bob Dole. Bush wanted to be president in 1980 but was beaten by Reagan, and then was finally made vice-president. After 8 years as vice-president, George Bush was made president, then ran again in 1992 and lost. Eight years later George Bush won the presidency (barely) and then barely again in 2004. And now Jeb Bush wants to be president.
Over 40 years of these people vying for either of the two tickets is enough!!

Great article. I have a couple of quibbles within it, but as a summary it is short, sweet and true.
Dubya did spend too much and did enlarge the govt....but he also was a stout defender or our military, he PRAYED, and he loved his wife...and right now he's living a quiet life on his ranch.....he was a MAN at least...a good man...a too liberal man,yes, but I don't question his character...and I felt safe at night....
does anyone feel safe at night any longer?...with the Nevada attrocity?...with Jews being regulated in Ukraine?...with bammey forcing national health "care" on us?....

Frankly, the only difference that is meaningful, in an historic sense; is that Jeb "might"--it is not certain--appoint someone slightly more Conservative to the Supreme Court. But his immigration policy would rapidly have the effect of washing out that possible advantage, in a rather short time frame.
Consider how confused George W. was on immigration, and George didn't even think sneaking over the border was an "act of love." (See Reply To President Bush on Immigration.)

Pappa Bush was the one who signed the “American With Disabilities Act” which has proved to be a fiscal disaster, now that rat lawyers can file charges against anyone living on a mountain for not having a street curb cutout. It goes on and on.

Instead of a choosing between evils I want something better.
Clinton might not get the full nomination and might not end up elected. People are tired of her and tired of her family and tired of her constant open determination to become the first female President of the United States.
She’s been proving herself to be a disaster in the politics and defense of our country and it’s boring seeing her face all the time, every time. I think the real chance is that the Democrats are going to put her aside (I hope) and find someone who will do a lot better with less baggage.
