..............The problem with the second path is it becomes an arms race that quickly has companies adding ridiculous “features” that nobody really wants............

Great point!

Like the recent VW ad that is centered on claims that you can go from coast to coast on three (?) tanks of fuel.

Who cares, ya gotta stop to pump your bilge every couple of hundred miles. Why carry an extra 150 pounds of fuel across country?

I heard P&G might be selling Gillette and Duracell since they are focus on core brands.

I have Shick razors I use and Gilette Fusion razors I use. I shake both off the same number of times before putting them away, yet the Gilette ALWAYS has the shorter lifespan. And by a lot!

My own opinion is that they (Gilette) do something to make the blades wear quicker.

While you can get a great shave with an old-style double-edge razor, my big gripe with them is that you have to shave really slowly to get a decent shave and you want to whip up shaving cream with a shaving soap and mug. Meanwhile, with the Schick Xtreme 3 I normally use, the stubble on my face is removed very smoothly and quickly with a decent shaving gel.
