A New Muslim Renaissance is Here
TIME ^ | April 16, 2014 | by Rabia Chaudry

Posted on 04/19/2014 8:53:24 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

History is witness to a time past when the Islamic civilization produced globally unparallelled architecture, literature, science, philosophy, theological discourse, and cultural influences – influences so strong it made European nobles want to dress like Muslims. Critics of Islam and Muslims scoff at this romanticism, asserting that Muslims have not produced anything great since the Middle Ages and most likely will never again. The inherent bigotry and even fallacy of that argument aside, for those critics I have to say, look out, a new Muslim renaissance is upon us.

In the midst of growing anti-Muslim sentiment in the US since 9/11, or perhaps thanks to it, this generation of Muslims is abandoning the traditional professions expected from immigrant parents (doctors, engineers, business people) and entering fields we all once thought were closed to us. The last decade has seen a steady and sure emergence of American Muslims as artists, writers, performers, activists, media personalities and intellectuals (on a global scale Muslims rank as top intellectuals). Inside the DC beltway you see evidence of this shift as well. Young American Muslims are working in national security, public diplomacy, foreign policy, politics – we have our share of hacks and wonks now too.

The true Islamic Renaissance is in fact present and growing stronger in Dubai and the other GCC nations. The Renaissance is related to business along side the religion

Muslims have not produced anything great since the Middle Ages and most likely will never again.

Well, they gave us the suicide vest, the car bomb,
the truck bomb, the shoe bomb, the underwear bomb.
And the ass bomb so it hasn’t been a complete write off.
They also gave us the TSA, predator drones, and
Islamophobia too.

oh man.. I needed a good laugh this morning!

Conquering someone who is intellectually superior to you and then trying to claim credit for what THEY achieved before you conquered them and proceeded to systematically destroy their civilization is not to be lauded.

These delusions are published in the American press regularly. Time magazine these days is about as thick and influential as a comic book. Sadly the American press refuses to tell the truth or criticize Obama, Kerry, the Democrats and their policies. Journalists have devolved into Soviet style apparatchiks and propagandists.

That's just a picture of the latest banana republic at the height of it's power.

And just like all the other one-commodity powers of the past, this too shall pass. 100 years from now the whole middle east will lie in ruins, the oil long gone, their cities lying in ruins and in a perpetual state of civil war. The sheiks will have long fled after fleecing every last cent from under the deserts.

Politics and influence change over time. Just a couple of decades ago, we were all treated to the exact same lie about how influential, how momentous, how irreplaceable the culture, science and influence of Mother Africa was.

Take the same old lying stories and bleats from then and replace ‘African/black/whatever’ with Muslim and VIOLA! You got this story....all crap on a stick.

What a distorted view of history.... all the missies ever did was to INVADE other countries and steal their ideas. There is nothing of value that this ‘group’ has contributed to the word. On the other hand much of the misery and problems the world has faced and does face is as a direct result of them

The denial you made is not borne up by reality.

The photo depicts a global meeting place, a congregation of world businesses, come together to produce economic synergy. The trade is enormous and involves not only the Gulf but the trade eastward

Calling that a renaissance is misleading, especially when they are paying foreigners to build these buildings (and the rest of their infrastructure). Let’s see what Dubai looks like 50 years after the oil wells run dry.

I don’t know for sure. Those assessments cited are all pretty much subjective, open to interpretation (and some outright lying in my opinion).

A culture that some purport to be so advanced does not devolve into a forth world crap hole of existence unless there was some dire influence. My assertion is that if this happened, and there was an advanced civilization that had all that is claimed, it certainly wasn’t ISLAM that advanced it. In my book, if anything was done, ISLAM destroyed it to pre-medieval status, maybe even before that.

Whoever wrote this should be shot.

That is not really relevant...... the projects are there. It can not be rationalized away.

I am one of the westerners of which you speak. We in America hire some of the same western folks to design and build what we need in the same manner as in the Gulf. It is also noteworthy that easterners from the Pacific rim are also heavily involved in the progress as well.

Businesses always flock where the money is. And as long as the oil is flowing they will continue to flock there. But when the oil drys up... they will flee in droves and these cities will crumble back into the deserts from which they sprang.

Here is what will happen:

1 - When they oil in the middle east eventually runs out (and it will)

2 - The middle class and poor of the country will rise up and demand that the rich pay more in taxes to support the level of services they have become accustomed to which have to that point been paid for with oil revenue.

3 - The rich will then flee in mass and take their money with them.

4 - The economy will crumble and the infrastructure that maintains these cities will deteriorate.

5 - civil/religious wars will break out and these shinning cities will crumble back into the desert or be destroyed in the ensuing carnage.

6 - 10’s of millions will die in the ensuing chaos.

7 - some future telethon will encourage our children to give to the poor and needy of Saudi Arabia.

Circle the Chirstian churches put a box around the Jewish synagogue. You are delusional if you think that these flourish anywhere in the muslim world.

You claim it is there....prove it. You won’t because you can’t. Apparently you like to ignore what is going on in muslim countries through out the middle east to Christians and Jews.

So my question is...why do you take this stance? Are you that fond of Islam that you cannot see what it really is?

There are actually two Muslims who won Nobel Prizes in science.

There are ninety eight Jews won won Nobels in science.

A ratio of 48:1 says all that needs to be said about Islam and intellectual capability.

PS I only counted Jewish Nobel winners in physics and medicine, and I didn’t include Jews winning Nobels in chemistry - but I did include the one Muslim who won a Chemistry Nobel.

PPS Gotta make Muslims look good - Bammy sez so. ;-(

Actually the Renaissance in Europe involved the resurgence in growth and learning that tempered the rigid shackles of the Roman Catholic Church. It involved the church but the growth in learning led to the exploration of the world and an explosion of business and trade.

The narrow religious bindings of which you speak were broken allowing expansion and growth of life. It was a Renaissance....

The buildings and resurgence in Dubai is like that in Florence, Venice and Rome hundreds of years ago.

Of course it is relevant. Just like in the past the missies can do NOTHING of their own accord. They MUST have outside help or they will merely blow away with the sand of the desert.

You may think you are having a great tome there because you earn big bucks and get treated like you are very special.

You are delusional. You are helping the enemies of not only the US but all of Christendom. Better you should go to North Dakota ad work there.

How many churches with towering spires and crosses on top have you helped build there??? None of course

Yeah, mostly Pakis, Indonesians, and Filipinos -- servants and slaves for the oil royalty. Once the crude dries up, those cities will crumble and the desert will take over once again.

If there is any renaissance in the muslime world, it is DESPITE that foul "religion," not because of it.
