Russia's foreign ministry has expressed outrage at a fatal shooting incident in eastern Ukraine which it blamed on Ukrainian nationalists.

Russian state media reported that five people were killed in a gun attack on a checkpoint manned by pro-Russian activists near the town of Sloviansk.

Ukrainian officials said one died in a clash between "two groups of citizens".

The incident comes as pro-Russian groups continue to occupy government buildings defying a deal to leave.

Etrogrul Apakan, who heads the special mission of the Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe in Kiev, said his deputy would be in Donetsk to try to get them to comply with an agreement reached on Thursday to ease the crisis......

An "incident" just happened to happen in Ukraine on a weekend when all was supposed to be quiet because of Easter.

I have more questions than answers in my head.

It’s called murder and it’s the promoters of the “pretend” government who did the killing.

There’s something funny going on and there was something funny going on when this all started a few months back in Kiev.

The Olympics were a time when Russia was putting on a show for the world in Sochi. Russia wanted to look good in the eyes of the world and the notion they would do something to look bad makes absolutely no sense.

There should have been no shooting at anti-Russian protestors that week by the then pro-Russian government.

Any action against the protests would have come after the Olympics.

The events that have led us to where we are now make no sense and I suspect outside influences helped to create this situation.

“The incident comes as pro-Russian groups continue to occupy government buildings defying a deal to leave.”

Then whatever happens to them is only THEIR OWN fault.

And your proof for those claims is? Hint: spouting Putinista talking points doesn’t count as proof.

Russians looking for their “Archduke” incident.

Putin's just itching to get the tanks rolling.

This has obviously been in the works for some time, and now he's just looking for any excuse to invade.

Well, if they would have abided by the agreement to leave all government buildings, they’d still be alive.

They are not innocents in this Russian provocation, and indeed are playing an active role, assisting Russian foreign policy.

Ukraine unrest: Russian outrage at fatal Sloviansk shooting

Arrogant. Misplaced. Outrage.

Where's Al Sharpton and his phony outrage?

Russia, get the hell out of Ukraine.

No it’s called invading and terrorizing your neighbor. There was no “unrest” in this area of Ukraine until “pro-russians” equipped with the latest Russian Army military hardware arrived on the scene last week. Ukrainian villagers do not have access to such equipment or have the military training displayed during coordinated assaults.

This is a Ukraine destabilization operation manufactured by Team KGB. But feel free to continue parroting Russian propaganda if you wish, FRiend.

Russian Army special forces invaded this town last week. There is video and signal intel that proves it. The Russians raided the local armory and then set up their stooges. The Russians are to blame for anything that happens now as a result of their terrorist attacks in this town.

Russia invaded Georgia while Putin was hobnobbing in the audience stands with Bush during the last Olympics. People conveniently forget that was really caused the protests to escalate were the mass shootings done by the Yanukovych regime.

Hitler backed off being Hitler for the Olympics in 1936.

That event was a propaganda showcase and so why shouldn’t have Putin’s Olympics in Sochi have been the same.

It makes no sense for the shooting to have broken out in Kiev during the Olympics.

Was someone trying to stir something up????

I think you are on to something. Russia was busy with the Olympics. Good time for someone else to stir up trouble.

I don’t think this is a fight that the United States should get into, but I certainly don’t subscribe to the notion that Putin’s Russia is a great place and that Putin is doing good in the world.

Drawing Obama into a fight with Putin over Ukraine may slow him down from doing harm in other areas like his anti-Israel negotiation policies with the Iranians and Palestinians.

The same logic could be applied to the previous invasion. The SBU at the time of the shootings was headed by a fellow from Moscow, and their elite members seen arming themselves and heading off to the protests were also Russian trained. There are also documents showing communication betwern the regime and the Russian GRU recommending the use of violent action.

So, Russia, let me get this straight. It’s ok for you to invade and kill Ukrainian nationals.
But when they shoot back you’re outraged???
