Conservatives slammed the campaign to effectively end the Electoral College's role in presidential elections, saying that the National Popular Vote Compact circumvents the Constitution, saying it resembled President Barack Obama's abuse of the law through his extensive use of executive orders. "It is pretty startling," Bill Kristol, founder and editor of The Weekly Standard, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV this week. "If they want to make the case for the popular election of presidents and a Constitutional amendment, they should make the case.

The Democrats’ Plan to Destroy Our Electoral System

The EC has been circumvented almost from its origin.

The problem is that the Constitution places no restrictions at all on how a state legislature chooses electors.

OTOH, there’s that bit about states being forbidden to make compacts amongst themselves without permission of Congress.

FWIW, if this goes into effect, it could easily backfire on Democrats.

All it would need is massive turnout for a conservative candidate and low turnout for the Democrat candidate.

Narrow marginal win in each of the traditionally Democratic states, and big margins in the traditionally GOP states.

GOP candidate has a majority of popular vote, but a minority in the EC. Compact kicks in and the GOP guy is elected.

Thank you for referencing that article Kevin in California. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

Patriots need to bear in mind the following concerning the effort by Democrats to rig the electoral college. The fight to essentially rig control of the Oval Office is based on the perceived powers of the federal government. The reason that Democrats are fighting for control of those perceived powers is because parents have not been making sure that their children are being taught about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.

Why do they need to change the College? They already have:

The Dead;
The Illegal Aliens;
The College Brats;
The Vote Counters;

What could go wrong?

The Electoral College is the only defense against the urban Democrat vote fraudsters. Of course, they want it bypassed.

A good question is that when Republicans are in power, can the federal government effectively counter this effort?

They will go to any lengths for short term advantage in elections. In WI years ago they talked us into changing State Supreme Court positions from appointed to elected. Now that we have the internet and can find out about these judges they loose. Now they are complaining that we are too stupid to choose our justices and we need to have them appointed.

As much as we know this is a deceptive ploy to facilitate fraud; I can’t help but be reminded how the electoral college has worked to prevent any ineligible, incompetent, frauds from being elected.
Perhaps if election day and tax day were combined and voting along with paying your taxes happened at the same place...
