Kerry: 'It was easier' in Cold War AFP 2 hours ago

Washington (AFP) - Secretary of State John Kerry attested Tuesday to the massively complex challenges Washington faces in Ukraine, Russia, Iran and the Middle East, declaring "it was easier" during the Cold War.

In a candid moment during a State Department speech, the top US diplomat said changing global power dynamics made a quaint memory of the early East-West stalemate, when American children would "crouch under our desks at school and practice" safety steps for a possible nuclear attack.

"During the Cold War... it was easier than it is today -- simpler is maybe a way to put it," Kerry told aid and development experts.

"The choices were less varied, less complicated, more stark, more clear: Communism, democracy, West, East, the Iron Curtain."

He said "multiple emerging powers," unleashed forces like radical Islam, and "too many failed states" have dramatically complicated the landscape, requiring a form of diplomatic precision that was not absolutely necessary decades ago.

In the post-war 1950s and 1960s, Kerry said, "we could make really bad decisions and still win, because we were pretty much the sole dominant economic and military power around.

"It's not true any more."

Let’s see. Off of the top of my head real quick. Lets take the year 1965.
Viet Nam and the surrounding area. - China - Russia - Cuba - Baltic states - Middle East - Protecting Israel - Africa in it’s usual mess.
The list goes on. It is harder today? If it is it’s because y’all can’t deal with things.
My head just exploded.

John Kerry. John Kerry. During the Cold War, The Great Diplomat John Kerry, whose French (much less Russian) by the way is still abominable after decades of lessons, was still chasing creeped-out rich skirts with his ridiculous post-assassination JFK monogrammed tennis-sweaters, which he traded for bandoleros in Super 8, prior to selling out our country’s finest men, legacy, and honor. He is the same man now as he always was: a fool, a flake, an abuser, and a soul-less opportunist.

That's what you and your 'rat buddies wanted, and what you and your 'rat buddies made happen.

So quit whining about how hard it is to live in the world you created.

It's always easier when the parties believe that the other side will honor agreements made during negotiations.

The world knows that Obama honors no agreements.

Hanoi Boi Kerry is the biggest whiner I’ve ever seen in my life. Life isn’t supposed to be EASY Hanoi Boi. If it was, we’d all be liberal DemocRATS dependent upon BIG government and the taxpayers for our survival.

That’s because John F’n Kerry was sniffing coke and conspiring with the enemy during much of the cold war. That made it “easy”.

Great point. Just as in any other profession, Reagan only made it look easy. Amateurs shouldn’t try this at home.

Poor little, rich boy.

Guess it was easier dodging your sworn responsibility, skipping out of the line of fire when things got tough, throwing away your unearned medals and mocking those in authority in the “Easy War”.

Well tough titty now that the shoe is on the other foot.

(expecting you to skip out on this one too)

It was easier in the Cold War. Obama and Kerry didn’t have to rely on each other to make intelligent decisions, and their stupid ones didn’t matter for the future of the world.

I think that is the problem. It is very difficult to fight the enemy when you are on their side.
