Democrats begin to embrace Obamacare on the campaign trail

Has the tide turned on Obamacare?

The Republican plan for the 2014 election season is to talk about nothing but the president’s landmark health care overhaul, highlighting the bungled website and other headaches the law has caused for some people, including those whose insurance plans have been cancelled because they do not comply with the new law’s regulations.

Until recently, it looked like a pretty good plan.

Agree or disagree, millions of Americans now receive an Obamacare benefit. Roughly 8 million have signed up for health insurance through the state exchanges, while millions of others have become eligible for Medicaid because of an enormous expansion of federal funding.

Thus, unlike in years past, Republicans who argue that Obamacare should be repealed or substantially changed will be forced to explain what they plan to do for the people who have benefited from the new law.

U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Madison, is heeding the message. He issued a staunch defense of the tenure of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius in a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “The Ed Show.”

Kelly Westlund, the Democratic candidate running against U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Ashland, is also embracing an aggressive message supporting expanded health care access. She argues that Obamacare is a good start, but it could be made even better.

Rep. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse, a moderate Democrat, is also eagerly cheering the law’s benefits.

this is focused on shoring up low voter turnout on their side. They are going with the 2012 playbook to get their base out even if they lose independents. For us, fortunately this is going to give our side a literal treasure trove of quotes from these candidates on the trail to help nationalize the election.

Democrats in Madison are as vulnerable as Democrats in San Francisco.
I remember before 2010 the media talking “Dream Team” in Texas.
Things didn’t end like they expected.

Looks like they are all scrambling to get in a leaky lifeboat.

They have no choice, they are in for a dime, have to stay in for a dollar.

If the Republicans are smart (I know, BIG if) they will already have a database cataloging ACA horror stories by State and Congressional District.

Democrats can run from Obamacare, or get behind it. Either way, it is a dead skunk hanging around their necks.

Democrats are used to lying about horrible policy, and browbeating the opposition until they join in on the lying. Global warming is a good example. That won’t work with Obamacare, not in this Obamaconomy, with people struggling to stay out of Obama’s poverty.

"Agree or Disagree, 8 million Americans now receive benefits"

receive benefits = political bribes

I disagree with the suggestion Republicans won’t succeed by just running against Obamacare. Republicans have to be “for” something. That something IMO should be small government conservatism and personal responsibility.

Going back to McCain, there has been no message other than “We’re not Democrats.”

********************************

The difference this time is that Obamacare hits people directly in the pocketbook and at their doctor’s office/pharmacy (if they can find one). Their health and in some cases, very lives are directly in the line of fire with Obamacare. Global warming taxes, policies, etc. can be put in all sorts of things that are not direct impacts. I think the Dems are “toast” on Obamacare .... they can talk about how great it is, how many millions receive a “benefit”, but there is a red hot fire smoldering in the country with all those who have lost plans, docs, paying more. The truly uninsured who are now insured are a drop in the bucket compared to those who have suffered “harm”.
