McConnell Primary Challenger: He's A 'Coward' For Attacking My Family

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) primary challenger, Matt Bevin, called the top Senate Republican a "coward" exhibiting the same kind of childishness as an eighth grader in response to McConnell's campaign jabbing at Bevin's family over a new campaign ad.

After Bevin's campaign aired a new ad featuring his large family, the twitter handle @BailoutBevinKy, run by the McConnell campaign, tweeted out I was waiting for 'My dad went to MIT!'" a dig at Bevin suggesting that he was a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"I think it's the same kind of childishness that we've seen a lot of from the McConnell campaign. He's acting as if he's running for eighth grade class president. The man is a coward who's unwilling to debate anybody on anything," Bevin said on Wednesday. "He's been there 30 years but is unwilling and unable to make the case for why he deserves six more years. He thinks he's just going to get it. He thinks he can buy it using other people's money by blanketing the airwaves but he's so arrogant that he's unwilling to make the case for why he deserves the vote. And it's a shame. So when you see this kind of nonsense where people attack family members —and this is from a man who was so outraged when he felt that someone in his family was being insulted in some way. The man's a hypocrite."

Reached for comment, the McConnell campaign said that Bevin was using his family to launch political attacks.

"There's no question that Matt Bevin has a beautiful family, but it's unfortunate that he feels the need to bring them into the campaign to launch political attacks. All the statements our campaign has made about Mr. Bevin are true,"

McConnell - like him or hate him - will win in 2014 according to the experts on Salem Michael Meds and Hugh Hewitt. They say he is a 'good man'

Myself I take the position of Mark Levin - HE HAS TO GO.

Good! Need to generate some publicity.. cause, Bevin’s fading into the wall paper of white noise..

Have to say though... My BEVIN FOR SENATE bumper sticker has been PROMINENTLY placed and on view in the Louisville airport parking lot in the past month!

It’s been there more days than it’s been in my driveway... wow, actually.. a LOT more days!

When it comes to governing and running for election follow the advice of the

or you will find yourself betrayed/tricked without your "head" connected to your "body".

A word of encouragement to Matt Bevin. Mike Castle refused to appear anywhere that Christine O’Donnell was before the primary - no debates, no appearances, no acknowledgement that she was even running.

And it cost him the primary election. Hammer that on him, Matt Bevin. But we wary, Castle and his supporters refused to support McConell and even voted for the Marxist Chris Coons.

You’re probably right, he’ll likely win the primary. The general election is a little iffy.

But it has been demonstrated to everybody that he is a very, very vindictive man, who aims to destroy.

My hope is that even if he does win, that it will be barely, and that the republican caucus in the senate, will look to another leader one way or the other.

I don’t understand what the angle, the dig is about here. But clearly it functioned as a distraction. Bevin is profoundly well-spoken, just not well financed.

KENTUCKY

If the 2014 general election for United States Senator were being held today, and the candidates were (Alison Lundergan Grimes, Democrat) and (Mitch McConnell, Republican), for whom would you vote?

Alison Lundergan Grimes 43%
Mitch McConnell 44%

Not gonna happen. The republican caucus are like dumb sheep. McConnell might win the general election, but only if enough democrats from the coal producing counties pull the lever for him.

McConnell has thoroughly alienated the conservative base in KY and he will have to make up a lot of those lost votes with democrat votes. If that idiot Grimes has the walking around sense to shut her mouth for the most part she wins. If McConnell wins it’s by the skin of his cowardly hide.

Re: Your Post #7: You need to call the Bevin campaign and tell them that. The campaign is run by novices up against a powerful political machine. They are very personable. One of his workers, a close childhood friend of Bevin’s, called me back and talked for about 30 minutes one evening.

Just now read your reply to my Post. No, but if you go to Bevin’s website and click on “Contact Us”... you will find e-mail address, Phone, etc.
