Ted Cruz: Gay marriage could put our 1st Amendment rights at risk [July 23, 2013]

Liberal heads begin to explode in 5..4…3…2…1

During an interview this past Friday with CBN’s David Brody, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) stressed that gay marriage could put our 1st Amendment protections at risk.

“If you look at other nations that have gone down the road towards gay marriage, that’s the next step of where it gets enforced.

“It gets enforced against Christian pastors who decline to perform gay marriages, who speak out and preach biblical truths on marriage and that has been defined elsewhere as hate speech — as inconsistent with the enlightened view of government.

“I think there is no doubt that the advocates who are driving this effort in the United States want to see us end up in that same place,” Cruz said.

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

That whole kerfuffle has nothing to do with defending rights, and everything to do with coercion, and the thwarting of rights.

Haven’t you been told already to IGNORE these silly social issues and focus on jobs, economy, Obamacare and so on?

We’d better wake up and realize this is how Obama means to totally wipe our 1st amendment rights out. Now is the deciding time. If we falter, we have nobody but ourselves to blame.

It gets enforced against Christian pastors...

And make no mistake about it. Only Christians and Jews will be targeted.

Remember the Christian bakers who refused to make a gay cake? They were slapped down hard. By muslim taxi drivers in Cleveland can refuse to drive cabs with gay advertisements, and it's no big deal.

Mr. Cruz is correct. The gay fascist were never going to be happy just getting gay marriage. They want to take over our society and crush any opposition.

Ted Cruz is hands down the most articulate, sharpest and TRUE believer in conservatism.

He doesn't just spout the conservative line when he wants vote. It tells the truth, sticks to his core beliefs and let's the chips fall where they may.

If he's got a political adviser he needs to give them a raise. If he doesn't have an adviser he should never hire one.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

It not only could, it already has. See the New Mexico case of the florist who refused to do a gay wedding on first amendment grounds.

And sadly, a large number of Americans have been brainwashed to think that "equal access" trumps the first amendment

When did “hate speech” come about? Why can’t you hate something that someone else loves and talk about it? Why doesn’t the 1st Amendment protect even hate speech?

Forget yelling FIRE in a crowded theatre.....it is not the same!

I believe they are actively looking for businesses that provide any wedding service looking for someone to sue.

Ted is so right. That’s what happened in Canada. Pastors were taken to prison.

That's the whole idea.

And more and more people are beginning to see it now that the old mask of "We just want hospital visitation rights" or "We just want to be left alone to do our thing" has come off for all but the most blind.
