I remember discussing with a friend of mine what type of pistol I should buy to keep in the home. Should I get a revolver, semi-automatic, 9mm, 22 cal, etc. He told me I was asking the wrong question. I needed to ask myself, not what type of gun to get, but rather, could I use it if I had one? If I had a gun and found someone breaking into my house was I going to say, stop I have a gun, or was I going to shoot him? If you don’t think you can shoot someone, don’t get a gun.
Instead of asking the Village Voice he should be talking to firearms instructors, visit some gun ranges, etc.
They don’t make the FN90 in 5.56 but they do make a FN2000 in 5.56
