Peter King urges immigration reform
Politico ^ | SEUNG MIN KIM

A House GOP lawmaker is urging Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to bring up immigration reform, saying it would benefit the nation and the Republican Party to undertake an overhaul that includes a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

The letter from Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) adds to a quiet but growing chorus of comments from House Republicans during the current congressional recess speaking in favor of immigration reform this year – which remains a steep uphill battle, with the House GOP fundamentally divided on the hot-button issue.

The irony is Peter King's plan will lead to Saudis on expired visas working airport security. I thought he was a tough guy on national security.

>> pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants

The pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens begins in their country, just as it does for all aliens.

The big irony here is that both Peter King and Jim Oberweis used to have HUGE fan clubs here on FR because both of them were fire-breathing, red-meat throwing “fighters” for border security and deporting illegals, and both of them flip-flopped this week and said they were open to “immigration reform” and granting amnesty.

Here’s a flashback to when King was “against amnesty” and a bunch of gullible conservatives loved that lying RINO:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1632078/posts

I’ve also heard rumors that Jason Chaffetz (the guy who defeated Chris Cannon by running a single issue campaign attacking Cannon for being pro-illegal) is now willing to also support amnesty. He’d be the LAST guy I’d expect to sell his soul on THIS issue, but that would make it a trifecta of immigration hardliner sellouts.

What’s next, Tancredo for amnesty?

Mia Love is the next one imo.

But I dont know if she campaigned on immigration.

Matheson has not signed the discharge petition or any of the amnesty bills.

Chaffetz is a Mormon. 90% of the elected Mormons in congress are amnesty peddlers.

Hatch, Chaffetz, Issa, Heller, Buck Mckeon, Mike Simpson, Labrador and Chris Stewart are amnesty supporters.

Matt Salmon is the weakest Arizona house Republican on the issue. He may have switched back after his interview with Ingraham.

Mike Lee, Bishop (Utah) and Crapo are the only opponents.

Chaffetz? That would be disappointing.

I found this http://www.politico.com/story/2014/04/immigration-democrats-house-republicans-105703.html

Chaffetz is among the 30 Republicans listed.

So Peter, tell me this. Just how many foreigners do you bottom-feeding politicians plan to allow to come here and live off the backs of the American taxpayers before you close the flood gates? Any idea? Huh? I didn’t think so.

Chaffetz's treason is particularly odious because the ONLY reason he's in Congress is by unseating an incumbent on a "He's pro-amnesty but I believe in enforcing the laws" message.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

It would be like Obama supporting Bush's Iraq policies and "dumb wars" after getting elected President. Oh wait. ;-)

That's an interesting dig from 2006 but that was eight years ago and much has changed since then.
Republicans controlled congress then in 2006 and held the WH and since then lost three elections of four.

His district in LI is liberal and King himself has for years taken the John McCain Grahmanesty positions, only attack Obama for not being aggressive enough with the military and be for amnesty and otherwise join Dems.

Yeah I just googled it, and it looks like he became an amnesty pimp last year. We're behind on this:

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/08/22/Rep-Jason-Chaffetz-R-UT-There-Should-Be-a-Pathway-to-Citizenship

Disgusting, though. Imagine if famous politicians throughout history behaved like today's crowd:

"Now that I've been nominated for a second term as President, I want to apologize for my harsh rhetoric about the evils of slavery I made during debates for the U.S. Senate in 1858. I am deeply sorry if I offended any slave owners. While I am not prepared to support extending slavery in Missouri and Illinois at this time, I do believe we can work together with the Democrats in a bipartisan manner to help some slave owners protect their property in the south".

His old district voted for Bush (2004) and McCain (but would have been easily for Gore in 2000).

Redistricting left him a seat that Obama won over Romney 51.6 to 47.2. Making it slightly less Republican than seats held by rats Tim Bishop and Steve Isreal but still pretty Republican for NY.

The rats are not strongly challenging King, and did not in 2012 either.

RE :”The rats are not strongly challenging King, and did not in 2012 either.”

His strategy.
And little can be done about him there.

LI Republicans love him so he cant be challenged seriously.
He and his role models McCain and Grahamnesty.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. Good comparison.

So you have no principles, eh Jason? Let me guess, you “evolved”, right? Evolved into the guy you beat!

These guys know when it pander when the time is right.

As Impy pointed out, Oberweis' "Enough illegal aliens come into America every day to fill a football field" campaign ad was a decade ago in 2004, when he was a private sector guy polling in 2nd place for the GOP U.S. Senate primary and desperately trying to out-conservative the 1st place guy, Jack Ryan, and distance himself from the image he had in 2002 as a social moderate.

In 2014, he's now a well known Illinois State Senator, former member of the IL GOP State Central Committee, and the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate, running in a RAT controlled state where you have to kiss the combine's ring to get any kind of party support.

This week, Oberweis and Rauner attended a Illinois Business Immigration Coalition forum, and Oberweis begged for forgiveness and promised to be "bipartisan" in pursing "pathways to citizenship"

A campaign ad showing Chaffetz morphing into Cannon would probably be a very effective slam against him. Of course, with our current luck, whichever anti-amnesty candidate runs it will also "evolve" on the issue once he goes to Washington!

Marco Rubio pretty much morphed into his successor Mel Martinez as well, but the FL Tea Party has only themselves to blame for that one (and still haven't figured out to stop endorsing the candidates the minute they announce and yell "Tea Party!")

The amnesty in 1986 was suppose to secure our borders. For 26 years the government didn’t do their job. Local government would pick up illegal’s and immigration wouldn’t pick them up and the locals would let them go. Worse immigration would pick them up an let them go. Job service would send them out on work request an if you complained about their documents job service would threaten EEOT investigation so you just fill out the i9 The church I attend half the people are now Hispanics and the Catholic churches too it is the same. I don’t like illegal immigration but what American would respect a law that hindered him knowing that it is not going to be enforced. I think at some point in time the government becomes immoral to deport immigrants who have otherwise been law abiding.
