Seriously, exactly *who* is objecting to this? If they can be identified, they should be ear-tagged as a “public scold”, and by general agreement should be prohibited from representing anyone in a public forum.
That is, no newspaper story, to radio or television coverage. They are regarded as a public nuisance.

Yes, but using the terms “whitebread” and “vanilla” as synonyms for bland and boring is perfectly fine (even though vanilla has many subtle different flavors, and Wonderbread-whitebread-makes a great sandwich, especially that all-American the great PB & J ).
