If the CNN reporter does not know the “why” of the willingness of the body guard to take a bullet for Cliven Bundy, then no amount of logic or persuasion is going to change the perception.

Critical thinking has two elements - Question the premise, and pursue the inquiry to its logical conclusion, using pragmatic integration of all the known facts of the matter. Each of the known facts is in turn put to the question, before accepting as part of the construct, and no more importance is assigned to each acceptable fact than its face value.

I can’t believe those on FR who have totally (and gleefully) thrown Bundy under the bus. I’m ashamed to have these people posting on FR. They certainly aren’t conservatives in any sense of the word and I wouldn’t want them in the foxhole next to me when the SHTF. Thanks for your efforts here. I, too, was quite taken aback by how quickly those we heretofore considered legit spokesmen for “our side” dumped on Bundy. The way I saw it from the first was that we should be damn happy this man stood up for himself and in doing so all of us. He literally stared down the barrel of a gun and told Fedzilla to shoot if they wanted but he would not be moved. The speed at which public figures headed for the tall grass really says something. Something nauseating.

When the dust settles, it may turn out you were right all along and people like me should not have compromised some underlying principle or worried about the movement's survival. For the time being, it seems even Cliven Bundy agrees with us and is trying to walk back his statement.

It's clear he's right about the harm done to blacks by the all-caring government and many live in as bad a condition as ever. You just don't expose yourself to the media's attack by appearing to say that we were better off as slaves. I know he wasn't justifying the slavery system but in making himself vulnerable to that accusation, he's bringing a threat to the conservative movement that supported his courageous stand against tyranny.

In fact, to my way of thinking, the folks who need to shut up now are the Becks, Paul’s, Hannitys, et. Al. You all are still welcome in our ranks but let’s not continue to pretend you are still any kind of “leaders” really. He wasn't "walking it back." He was trying to explain what he had said but they're not interested in what he said, because they're too busy trying to tell everyone what they want others to THINK he said (and believes).

And as far as "the movement's survival" (not sure what that means), it won't survive when no one ever stands together or has your back (and their first instinct is to blink and then run-away.....to "fight" another day). It's like watching "Groundhog Day," yet again.
