Palin: If I were president, 'Waterboarding is how we'd baptize terrorists'

Sarah Palin would like all terrorists to know that if she were in charge, waterboarding is how the United States would baptize them.

At least that's what the former Alaskan governor and ex-vice presidential nominee told thousands of attendees this weekend at the National Rifle Association's annual convention in Indianapolis.

"If I were in charge," Palin said Saturday during a Stand And Fight rally at Lucas Oil Stadium, "[our enemies] would know that waterboarding is how we'd baptize terrorists."

Palin mocked what she called the Obama administration's coddling of suspected terrorists

I didn’t do anything “again”. I’m not the person you responded to in Post #6. Again, there is no indication that she is running for President. If you’re aware of one, I’m all ears.

What, are the Palin-haters of FR still in bed?

The only way to find who the real conservatives are is for Palin to run.

She also said in this same speech, we don't need to coddle are enemies, we need to put the fear of God into them. (Not an exact quote: words to that effect.)

Now you have repeated a variation of the mantra AGAIN. (You ARE just jibing me, aren't you?)

Well, SOME would say she’s not a politician. She’s not in office, and she’s not running for anything, and she will not be running for anything. That makes it easy to take the gloves off.

Exactly. And I hate to say it, but the more she says things like this, the less impact it has. It’s like the boy who cried wolf. I’m happy when she hits the Libtards. Hit ‘em hard. But just hit them as a pundit.

Mrs. Palin is not a conservative. Conservatives being so scarce around here, I can see how so many are mistaken.

Conservatism is not an ideology. It has principles, not an agenda. It honors the past not because it’s perfect, but because it’s known to us and therefore less likely to conceal nasty surprises. Conservatism assigns high value to tradition and stability, approaching change warily and counseling restraint in matters of politics, commerce, arts, and social mores — all in recognition that human folly and error and bad intent are real things that shape the way life in this world is lived.

America is by nature and origin not a conservative place. Americans by and large believe in second (and third and fourth) chances. Americans are mistrustful of authority, do not identify with a stable community, are puzzled by appeals to continuity, and in general consider good any innovation that leaves them materially better off or at least allows them to gratify their appetites and impulses. Americans largely see America as the great chance to escape the prison of the past — personal, religious, ethnic, historical, and familial. For these reasons and more, there are very few “real conservatives” active at FR.

Methinks you are stuck on a misguided definition of conservatism. Insofar as it applies to American politics, conservatism references an adherence to the founding principles of this country, as written in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

Governor Palin does indeed adhere to the small-government principles of a representative republic as originally envisioned for the country.
