Reports say it went through Tupelo Mall. I was watching WTVA online when the signal went dark.

50 mph?
Isn’t that unusually fast?

Don’t think that’s a debris ball. Looks like a hail core.

I’m watching all these storm lines with a combination of fascination and dread. We’ll begin getting ours overnight through Wednesday. Hoping the good old Blue Ridge Mountains shelter us to an extent as they often do.

Weather spotters have no real accuracy to the forward movement of a storm. Only a RADAR can provide that.

Regardless, I hope everyone finds safe shelter in the area.

This is a different tornado from the Tupelo one.

This one has multiple vortices according to spotters.

No..the deadliest tornado on record, the Great Tri-State Tornado of 1925, had an average forward speed of 59 mph, and moved along at more than 70 mph during portions of its 235-mile track.

My oldest kid just missed 2 warned tornadoes to the north and south. She’s staying with my inlaws in central MS. They, oddly enough for the area, have a basement. She was staying with them during the 2010 tornado that passed about 6m north of them.

I told my MIL she’s not allowed to stay during tornado season anymore.

Sound advice...stay safe.

I lived through those and the 1974 outbreak. Almost hit my home and scary as hell.

Kid staying with us just said his grandparents saw the tornado go overhead before touchdown.
