Rand Paul Crafting New Alliances With Romney’s 2012 Team

BOSTON (AP) — Fighting to move beyond his father’s shadow, Sen. Rand Paul is crafting new alliances with the Republican Party establishment during a Northeast tour that began Friday in Boston.

The 51-year-old Kentucky Republican, son of libertarian hero and former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, headlined an afternoon luncheon hosted by top lieutenants of former presidential nominee Mitt Romney — a private meeting that comes as Paul weighs a 2016 presidential bid of his own. To succeed in a national campaign, however, those close to Paul acknowledge that he must broaden his appeal beyond the Tea Party and libertarian-minded activists who rallied behind his father’s long-shot presidential runs.

Paul offered a unique blend of what he called “libertarian-ish” politics while addressing Harvard University’s Institute of Politics Friday afternoon.

“The Republican Party will adapt, evolve or die,” Paul declared.

He railed against perceived civil liberties abuses in the Obama administration, while suggesting his party should focus less attention on social issues. He also said the GOP should abandon calls to deport millions of immigrants and offered that armed school officials might help prevent further mass shootings.

But more than what he said publicly, Paul’s private actions on Friday marked a new step in his push to strengthen his political standing.

The freshman senator attended the luncheon at the private-equity firm Solamere Capital, a Boston-area company led by Romney’s his former national finance chairman, Spencer Zwick, and Romney’s oldest son, Tagg. Romney himself serves as a senior adviser to the firm and has an office there, although he did not attend the gathering.

Zwick arranged a private audience of just a dozen key members of Romney’s inner circle, including senior advisers Beth Myers, Bob White and Ron Kaufman.

I was a big GWB supporter when he was a conservative in his actions, I was very vocal against GWB when he supported Amnesty, tried to put a ringer on the Supreme Court, Pushed TARP, didn't do anything to cut the size of government, etc.

Rand Paul is not a conservative, a Libertarian, as his comments lately on policy positions etc. prove, but not a conservative.

American Conservative Union rates Paul at 100% conservative. Heritage rates Paul the third most conservative in the Senate 97% Club for growth rates Paul 100% National Right to Life Committee 100% FreedomWorks 100%

You can throw out the ACU ratings, that's a trash rating agency designed to give RINOs cover.

Furthermore, his voting patterns now are not the issue, what is the issue, are the statements WHILE he his implicitly campaigning for President as THEY give a window into how he would lead as POTUS.

Taking his Libertarian/Moderate positions into consideration proves Rand Paul cannot be trusted to lead from a conservative position but will pull a Mitt Romney and do what he considers popular, not principled.

I would advise concentrating on electing conservatives in 2014 instead of 24/7 Paul bashing.

Well, Rand Paul, with his de-emphazing the Social Issues and Amnesty is a pretend conservative, so by shedding the light of day on his non-conservative actions that is exactly what I am doing,

Concentrating on electing conservatives.

Oh, and btw, this isn't "bashing" Rand Paul, it is however, telling the truth about Rand Paul, something his supporters apparently dearly do not want to occur.

Rand Paul has done a millions times what you could ever hope to do in advancing the conservative agenda Bushbot. Admit it, you like big government as long as big government is pushing YOUR agenda.

You are confusing me with your Master Romney
who defended the undocumented Tyrant OVER and OVER:

Chihuahua Romney - the One and the Only "Magic RINO(TM)":

"Obama was born in the United States"

"Obama Doesn’t Need a Birth Certificate"

"The citizenship test has been passed"

Milt Romney in 2007

Romney - the Magic RINO:
"I'm not running as the Republican view
or a continuation of Republican values.
That's not what brings me to the race.

(Romney Video, accessed 9/19/07)

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn't make any sense at all.""

Romney for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Romney for Obama in 2009

Chihuahua Romney - the Magic RINO:
"I also think it's important for us to nod to our pRes_ _ent when he's right,"
we are pleased with his plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan
I also applaud our pRes_ _ent
for standing up to the evil auto industry. "

The people on the Republican ticket are talking about it a lot. I would think it therefore matters quite a bit if we elect them or not.

Please take your incessant RINO excuses and shove them. Deeply. Most of us aren’t going down your fast track to failure again. So hop on this train or get out of it’s way.

I know it makes you mad to come to FR and see so many former Romney voters say ‘never again’ but that’s what RINO/GOP types have to accept going forward. And no amount of blamestorming on your part, or posting pictures of Yosemitie Sam on a Dragon will change it.

Rand Paul is running for the presidency, which locality decides federal policy and law on abortion in the military, in federal employment, and in immigration?

You seem to have resigned yourself to the forgone and forlorn conclusion that the Federal Government will always divine its powers from itself, as opposed to the States. And that the States are in turn empowered by the Federal Government.

In the end, there is only “ONE THING” Liberals/Progressives are “Certain of”. They are certain that there is no moral certainty. This circular argument drives virtually everything. Objective morality is rejected as it defines right from wrong. The only thing “wrong” in their worldview, is “saying” something is wrong.

A Conservative Christian doesn’t stand a chance in this environment. Not because our beliefs are flawed, but because the zombie media machine won’t allow our message to even be heard in the first place.

They kill the message by killing the messenger.

The Democrat Party “CAN NOT” exist without placing “EVERYBODY” into a group, including us. But we are the only group that defines right from wrong and are therefore wrong in their worldview.

What to do and how do we overcome this ?

Maybe, a strong consistent conservative message ?

I love it.

But, it’s rejected well before it can ever be heard and as a result is never heard by the zombies.

He was on Fox, instantly rejected.

He is a Christian, instantly rejected.

He is against gays, instantly rejected.

He has a “Binder” of women ? Retarded, but is rejected.

It goes on and on, and you know this to be true.

They are, and we are rejected because we take a moral position on what is right and wrong.

The Libertarian position attempts to remove the “Group” from the democrat’s platform. Understand, Democrats can not exist without these endless groups. And these groups can only exist through the power of government.

When we remove the Government we remove the groups.

As a result, virtually all our social issues will be decided at the local level.

No, seriously.

Which locality decides federal policy and law on social policies from gay marriage, to abortion, to the homosexual agenda, in the military, in federal employment, and in immigration, and in foreign policy?

So is Hillary.

Where does the Federal Government derive its powers ?

Have you given up on our Constitution ?

Maybe, you think our federal Government with its massive bureaucracy can be unwound alone by electing a strong leader ?

That guy CAN’T be elected since he would need to tell people exactly what he intends to do.

Don’t get me wrong. I, would vote for him.

But there aren’t enough thinking people in our electorate to make this happen.

Romney swept the independents.

INFOGRAPHIC: Obama Lost Independent Vote In Almost Every Swing State
The president only won the independent vote in one battleground state: North Carolina.
Just before Election Day, the Wall Street Journal reported those polling numbers had hardly changed, with Romney overwhelmingly leading among independent voters across the country. Republican pollster Bill McInteruff told the Journal the Democrats were “really flirting with trouble if you’re losing independents by this margin.”

The various groups of leftists with agendas will never vote for anyone that is not 100% on the bandwagon with their pet agendas.

It’s really quite simple.

The various agenda groups are rabidly obsessed and adherent to their various causes, be it illegals, faggots, feminism/women’s rights, black racist causes, commie this/that/the other thing. They will cling and vote their cause until the day they die.

Oops - and maybe even after.

Trying to compromise with them means one thing - joining them.

Paul is looking to capture the discontent and the votes from the middle.

So is Hillary

Hillary can’t run on transparency.

Hillary can’t run as an outsider.

Hillary can only run as a woman. A victim.

The winning issues for 2014 and 2016 start with the unprecedented distrust the American people have in their Federal Government.

It’s NSA spying.

The IRS.

It’s Government control via 0bamacare.

It’s crony Capitalism.

Both Democrats and the Rinos represent everything that they hate about government and politics.

So the question becomes, “How long is the middle, willing to go along with politics as usual ?”

Does the Ostrich pull it’s head out of the sand ?

In this election cycle ? or the next ?

Ultimately, the snake will realize it is eating it’s own tail.

It’s just a question of when.
