For years, weve heard Republicans claim that they want to repeal and replace Obamacare with a better set of reforms. (What those reforms would exactly be, nobody can say for sure.) But there was always one critical problem with the repeal and replace plan: it stands no chance of passage until at least 2017. By then, as many as 35 million people could be on Obamacare-sponsored coverage. A few Republican leaders have had the temerity to acknowledge this factand thats a good thing.
By committing to repeal, Republicans damage their chances in 2016
Most pundits are focused on the likelihood of Republican gains in 2014, fueled by an older, whiter electorate and the unpopularity of Obamacare. But the real prize is 2016. If Republicans cant retake the White House in 2016, conservatives will have little to no opportunity to shape the future of the health-care entitlement leviathan.
And theres good reason to believe that Republicans will lose in 2016. Heres my thinking. In the Republican presidential primary leading up to that election, no aspiring GOP nominee will stray from the repeal and replace incantation that has become de rigueur among conservatives. To do otherwise will risk being called a RINO: a Republican In Name Only.
So, a repealer-and-replacer gets nominated by the GOP, much to the satisfaction of conservatives. That nominee runs against Hillary Clinton, whose only campaign ad of the year points out that for the 35 million people on Obamacare-sponsored health coverage, you wont be able to keep your plan under the Republicans. If 70 percent of those 35 million people vote for Hillary, Republicans lose in a landslide.

Liar.
GOP losers lose again. They get snookered by the Nazi ‘RATS every time.
By not committing to repeal of this disaster,a republican weakling is politically FINISHED!!
Part of the plan.
I was hoping after 2016 I would never have to hear that name again, but it looks like it will be around for a while.
It’s like this Avik old boy, the GOP doesn’t have to take out your ObammyCare. Once the GOOBs pass amnesty, ObammyCare will collapse under its own weight. Sorry pal. The money just isn’t there.
‘That nominee runs against Hillary Clinton, whose only campaign ad of the year points out that for the 35 million people on Obamacare-sponsored health coverage, you wont be able to keep your plan under the Republicans.’
I thought we could keep our plan under Obama, and save $2500 to boot.
Perhaps when more people realize what an abortion this so called law it, something will be done. This entire episode is a travesty and shows how far this country has fallen.
Scotty: “Shees going to Blow Jim”
This is a stupid article. The thing is going to self destruct. Now way to “fix” it.
I remember when this was passed, predicted on the day of passage by the freepers.
It’s up to 35 million now?
“By committing to repeal, Republicans damage their chances in 2016”
I call BS on this one...
Let it become fully implemented. Let the pain be felt by all the dems that supported it.
The employer mandate will be implemented before 2016.
Which is why they will not be Repub leaders for long.
This whole monstrosity has always had one major underlying purpose: to begin the transition away from employer-paid medical insurance, thereby eliminating one of the biggest line items from the expense ledgers of major U.S. corporations. The Republican Party made a big political show about unanimously opposing it when it was passed in 2010, but I can guarantee you that the GOP will never, ever do anything to reverse its course. Look at all the nonsense Ted Cruz took last fall from his own fellow Republicans when he proposed minor changes and short-term delays in Obamacare THAT OBAMA HIMSELF LATER INSTITUTED EARLY THIS YEAR THROUGH HIS OWN EXECUTIVE ORDERS.
You’re out of touch, “Avik” (what kind of a name is that anyway?
You’ll see the results this Nov just how hated Commiecare is . . we could care less if a few lose their “insurance” bcoz the jackasses they voted for didn’t care when millions lost theirs.
Get lost
I predict that the employer mandate is going to be so watered down by the time it’s implemented that it will be completely meaningless.
