NBA legend...says whoever taped Donald Sterling’s comments should be ‘sent to prison’

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar fully supports Adam Silver’s lifetime ban of Clippers owner Donald Sterling for making racist comments to his girlfriend, but he says he also wants whoever is responsible for taping the comments “sent to prison.”

Writing in a strongly-worded editorial peace for Time magazine, Abdul-Jabbar spoke out against the methods used to obtain evidence.

"Shouldn't we be equally angered by the fact that his private, intimate conversation was taped and then leaked to the media?” Abdul-Jabbar wrote in Time. "Didn't we just call to task the NSA for intruding into American citizen's privacy in such an un-American way?"

Most people don’t follow politics so to base an opinion on how they are as a person based on political beliefs they probably barely understand is immature in my opinion.

Lest you think I'm an argumentative type, I'm in total agreement with that portion of your post. Too many voters are ill-equipped to handle the awesome responsibility of casting a ballot. It's a serious decision and one that requires not only maturity and intellectual acumen but wisdom and knowledge of what this Republic is all about. That's why I was on-board with Tom Tancrdo's call for a civics literacy test at the Nashville Tea Party meeting back in February 2010:

...because we don’t have a civics literacy test to vote, people who couldn’t even spell vote, or say it in English, put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House named Barack Hussein Obama.

No. The girlfriend sent it to a “Friend” who released it
according to an article I read earlier.

The girlfriend sent it to the “Friend” for safekeeping in case soemthing happened she stated.

When she sent the phone tape to the “Friend” the only 2 snippets that came through were the ones that everyone is going on about which is interesting to me.

Wonder what the whole conversation said and were the 2 snippets in order did it change the context of what was said?

Both Magic Johnson and Stiviano should be exposed for what they did and be run out of town for setting the very leftist precedent that someone’s property can be taken from them because their thoughts and opinions are different than your own.

I met Lew the first night he came to Milwaukee. Then he moved in across the street from me. Very nice guy, smart, friendly, soft spoken. A Jazz fanatic.

I guess Kareem does not believe that a person has the right to be an A-hole in their own home.

I think Kareem is saying the exact opposite. Look, you can't "un-ring" this bell. It's out there that Sterling has these negative attitudes toward Blacks. That's not going to fly in the NBA.

So what Kareem seems to be saying is that in order to prevent this type of thing from happening again we need uncover who taped Sterling and prosecute that person to the fullest extent so that the next time somebody considers rolling tape on an unsuspecting person they have to consider a possible prison stretch.

Seems to me that Kareem is advocating the only real solution to this situation.
