A Democratic Wisconsin assemblyman and candidate for governor plans to hand out Ku Klux Klan hoods which he calls Republican party hats at the states GOP convention this weekend.
Brett Hulsey, a two-term assemblyman, said that he spent $1 on the KKK hoods and fashioned them using his daughters sewing machine, according to the Associated Press.
He also posted a picture of one of the homemade hoods on his Twitter account.
Hulsey, who is challenging Mary Burke for the Democratic nomination, has also sought out Confederate Civil War re-enactors ahead of the convention to draw attention to what he considers a racist Republican Party and its state leader, Gov. Scott Walker.
What I find offensive is Gov. Walker and the Republicans racist record, Hulsey told the Wisconsin State Journal. Theyre the ones considering the resolution to leave the United States.
Hulsey was referring to a resolution one of 23 that will be up for debate at this weekends convention. The resolution, which would allow Wisconsin to secede from the U.S. under extreme conditions, worked its way up through a regional caucus and was accepted for consideration in a split vote.
But most top Republicans, including Walker, oppose the measure.
I dont think that one aligns with where most Republican officials are in the state of Wisconsin certainly not with me, Walker said last month, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
That has not deterred Hulsey.
I want to bid Governor Walker and the Wisconsin Republicans farewell, and hope they enjoy the Confederacy, Hulsey said in a statement posted at his blog. I have lived and worked in the South and would rather they leave Wisconsin than take us backward and turn us into Wississippi.
Wississippi is a neologism that Hulsey often uses in his writings to refer to his home state.
Hulsey, who was issued a disorderly conduct citation in 2012 after he flipped a 9-year-old boy off of an inner tube, accuses Walker of tolerating racist staff comments, making it harder for women and Native Americans to address discrimination, taking $1.5 billion from 2.6 million Wisconsin school children, students, and public servants, making it harder to vote, taking away healthcare from over 90,000 working people, ending studies on racial profiling, and others.
We may disagree with the policies of this Republican Party, said Wisconsin Democratic Party chairman Mike Tate in a statement, but this type of behavior is completely unacceptable and grossly inappropriate.
Brett Hulseys actions amount to nothing more than a reprehensible, vile stunt and everyone should be outraged, read a tweet from the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
Hulseys antics are part of a recent trend. Florida Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson likened the tea party to the KKK in a campaign email last year. And last month, Hall of Fame baseball player Hank Aaron compared the GOP to the domestic terror group, saying that Republicans who oppose President Obama wear neckties and starched shirts instead of hoods.
Hulsey did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller News Foundations request for comment.
Perfectly fitting for a DEM to hand out KKK garb. They invented the Klan.
You may as well explain things to a wall as to these blockheads.
As of 2013 he had been married to Mary Kay for 19 years; they have one son (Tyler) and one daughter (Lea). On February 7, 2013 his wife filed for divorce.[2][3] He was issued a citation by Madison Police Department on July 12, 2012, for disorderly conduct for alleged inappropriate contact with a minor at a Spring Harbor Beach on Lake Mendota in the City of Madison, on July 4, 2012. A 16-page report of the incident is on file at the Madison police department, and online.[4] Hulsey pled no contest to the charge in court on August 15, 2012.
isn’t this a hate crime?
at the very least it is a thought crime.
What is nuts is that the KKK were all democrats.
Interesting how you never, ever see or hear of the Klan these days, except when the Democrat Party is deep trouble in the polls.
The boy was probably a Republican.
And this is where it should be a foregone conclusion that he WILL get his @$$ beat.
That would be so sweet to see Rat Hulsey in the audience passing out his “hand made” KKK garb.
How many people use their daughter’s sewing machine to make race baiting hate filled garments?
Can you only imagine the Hulsey home? Brett Hulsey would ask his daughter, “My dear child, do you mind if I borrow your sewing machine? I need to make a KKK hood.” And his daughter would reply, “Oh daddy did you recruit some new members for your club?”
What a pathetic piece of filth. Oh, wait! He is a RAT.
they came from his own closet
Somebody make a photo album of mass deaths at the hands of Marxist dictators, some pics of leftist jackboots engaged in their butchery, plus a good sprinkling of dead abortion babies, and give it to him saying that this is what the leftist Dem death cult stand for and what they really want for this country.
He couldn’t even survive redistricting. The Dems want Burke because she can self-fund, and isn’t a whackadoodle that will destroy the down ticket.
Wisconsin has a lot of weird lefties in it.
I wonder if this fellow knows that Wisconsin was considering secession back in the 1850s?
This guy is more of a disturbing whack-job than even this story makes him out to be. Read the police report about his “incident” with a 9 year old boy at the beach:

Candidate for the “Knockout Game”!
GOP must stop playing nice.

And the White League, and the Red Shirts. All military arms of the Democratic Party.
