Death toll in Odessa rises to 46 people, 144 detained; OSCE observers free

SBU: Russia behind kidnapping of OSCE military observers (VIDEO)

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) released a video that implicates Russia in the kidnapping of eight military observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The video allegedly shows telephone conversations between Russian Military Intelligence Colonel Igor Girkin – who allegedly leads the separatist movement in eastern Ukraine – and Vladimir Lukin, special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Officials in Moscow have constantly denied involvement in the pro-Russian separatist movement in eastern Ukraine.

However, the conversation recordings show Girkin and Lukin coordinating their actions while discussing a pending OSCE visit to Sloviansk, Donetsk Oblast, where the OSCE observers are being held. In the conversations, Lukin tells Girkin that he will lead an OSCE delegation to Slovyansk on the morning of April 3. Girkin tells him that he will let him through the Russian-held roadblocks once he receives a phone call that he is on his way.

“The Russian delegation’s ‘active participation’ in securing the release of the foreign hostages is nothing more than a dramatization,” reads an SBU statement about the video recording. – Mark Rachkevych

We should start a thread with pics and video from yesterday documenting the Russian provocation and assault in Odessa.

The Putin parrots are getting hysterical. Several posted graphic pics of burned bodies last night from the Trade Union . They had nothing to say about the killed pro-Ukrainians as usual.

Putin was very disappointed at the disillusion of the break up of the USSR and his main focus in life is taking over all those countries and as many others as he can.

Obama did the heavy lifting in bringing Islamic terrorism in control in the Mideast area in many countries thanks to the help of his handler Muslim Brotherhood member Valerie Jarrett, his #1 top advisor.

Obama is lovin’ Putin’s work in his area, he can just sit back and chuckle.

Partners in crime to turn the world over to Islam and communism.

Once this civil war is well underway it won't matter much who started it.

Thousands will die on each side.

The Russian Specops could all leave tomorrow and still the cities will be engulfed for weeks if not months.

Ukrainians are pissed and they are going to kill Russians. Russians are pissed and they are going to kill Ukrainians.

And the folks in Kiev don't have the means to end it.

I didn't have a chance to read caww’s post, but you must apply that standard to Whiskey X, 1rudeboy and others, too.

Thanks.

BTW, others here like Whiskey X post on front page, breaking news, etc, and the “front page” on “topics” stays, for them but it seems that it doesn't stay for others.

I posted A BBC article that said BREAKING in big bold letters at BBC while I was posting it, and it was yanked from Breaking News. It went to Front page shortly and then vanished.

You just have the same standard for all (no dogs in this race), otherswise that would be bias, conservatives at FR want unbiasedness, and that might cause many (who are liberals at DU, Daily Kos, etc) to rejoice at this.

A civil war would involve only Ukrainians. This is already a regional war with Russian national unlawful combatants and Russian state supported terrorism in Ukraine.

If you think this unrest is Ukraine is going to end with Russians being the only foreign nationals involved you are mistaken.

I feel so sorry for the Ukrainian people. All they want to do is go about their business, go to church, raise their families.

Fate, over the past two centuries, has not allowed them to do this.

Pray for the peace of that nation.

We need to pray for all the nations of Eastern Europe that neighbor Russia. Russian chauvinism is pushing us to the brink of a large regional war at the minimum. Maybe more. Putin’s adventures didn’t start with Ukraine and won’t end there.

Well said.

“Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the Century. As for the Russian nation, it became a genuine drama. Tens of millions of our co-citizens and compatriots found themselves outside Russian territory. Moreover, the epidemic of disintegration infected Russia itself” (Vladimir Putin, Annual Address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, April 25, 2005).

The ethnic divide is a fiction. Ethnic Russians took part in the Maidan same as Ukrainians. It be more accurate to say that if Russia ends its instigation and removes its special forces out of Ukraine, the “civil war” will be at an end.
