CA Dem Congresswoman Barbara Lee Calls For $26 Minimum Wage
Fox Nation ^ | Brendan Bordelon

California Democratic congresswoman Barbara Lee expressed support for a $26 minimum wage in her state — a move Republican congressman Andy Harris encouraged, assuming jobs would rapidly flee California to his state of Maryland.

Lee and Harris appeared Friday on CNN’s “Crossfire,” hosted by former Obama advisor Van Jones and former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. The panel discussed the proposed increase in the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 per hour.

“Let me ask you this question, you’re a good advocate for this,” Gingrich asked Lee. “The mayor of Seattle is proposing that the minimum wage ought to go up to $15 an hour.”

In Europe, they don't have a military to fund. They rely in the USA military, so the money they would have invested in the military/industrial complex goes into social programs instead.

Obama is well on the way towards destroying our military/industrial complex too, so why not $26/hour? Let the Russians and the Chinese defend both Europe and the USA now!

Right, in the sense that she’s always considered herself a communist, and been a member of several communist groups. However, she’s too stupid to appreciate the irony that no communist regime, all of which she has supported, ever paid its proletarians very much, certainly not $26 an hour.

With her IQ, I say let the commies have her.

$26/hour = $52K/year based on 2000 hours [40 hours x 50 weeks].

Me thinks that would drive the cost of a Big Mac up to $12 ...

Out of the frying pan and into the fire? Think again, Andy.

I don’t know how many libs I stated that fact to and they look at me like a deer in headlights, then most of them will say we don’t need much military here or in Europe.

Even my daughter’s boyfriend, not a conservative by any terms, understands that the department he works in at Sears (L.A.) has a budget and if the minimum wage increases it means less hours for him and/or layoffs.

Obozo doesn’t have a clue. The fact that he says the lower 6.3% unemployment rate was due to his policies tells you that. Otherwise, the clown would have seen that people are dropping out of the labor force so fast that the unemployed actually dropped...the Discouraged Worker Hypothesis at work.

The fix? Just look at the fastest-growing economy in the world right now. And, no, it’s not China. This country slashed its previously-Socialistic tax rates to 15% on corporations and 17% on individuals, and have the target of gov’t spending being a mere 5% of GDP. The inflow of foreign capital flooded into the country and unemployment rates drapped like a stone. The country: Chile.

I think we should determine the salary of the highest paid CEO and then adjust everybody else to that salary. That way, all of us will be able to own a horse that runs in the Kentucky Derby. Imagine 300 million horses racing in next year’s Kentucky Derby (because every American will own one) and how exciting that race will be.

Most people working for minimum wage are not doing something, ‘simple’. They are doing the, ‘shovel ready’ work that Obama talks about.

Take away fast food, and minimum wage work is hot, dirty, tiring and in most cases demeaning. Most people doing these jobs are doing so to be able to eat that day.

Most people doing this work do so as to be able to not have to rely on food stamps or other public assistance. Raising the minimum wage will result in most of this type of work stopping in the short term. Which will result in truly dire circumstances in this country.

The robot dot com boom is on deck. It just needs a push to take off. $26/hour could instead finance the purchase of $1 million in robots. Unlike humans, the acquisition cost of robotics falls about 10% per year. Having a job will become a historical curiosity for 90% of the population.
