Results of an online survey suggest that Jesus and Christianity are more popular than Chairman Mao and Communism, on China’s version of Twitter.
Researchers at Tea Leaf Nation—an online magazine that studies media trends in the country— recently scanned the social media platform Weibo for Christian terms and found they are quite popular, despite the country’s tight control on religion, the Christian Today website reported.
The survey discovered the word ‘Bible’ produces more than 17 million results, but “Quotations of Chairman Mao’—a text known in the West as ‘The Little Red Book’ only had 60,000 results.

Good news if true.
Mao is dead.
But is he more popular than the Beatles?
But certainly not in the Whitehouse!
And to think 45 years ago it was Mao, Castro, Uncle Ho, Che that the US college kids were enamored with! The statues with feet of clay are falling, one at a time.
Soon it will be Obama, if he does not seize power first.
I thought the Beatles were more popular.
We should asked these people in China who they like more, Beatles or Jesus.
As far as Mao, the Red Book isn’t how Mao is idolized. He is actually an idol of the Taoist or Buddhist nature there. His image adorns good luck charms and the like.
If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you ain’t gonna make it with anyone, anyhow.
It’s gonna be all right.
