Russia stops diesel shipments via pipeline to Ukraine, Hungary

* Pipeline meets about a third of Ukraine diesel demand

* Hungary received 815,000 t diesel via pipeline in 2013 (Adds detail)

Russian pipeline monopoly Transneft stopped diesel shipments to Ukraine and Hungary last month due to uncertainties over the pipe's ownership, a company spokesman said on Monday.

The pipeline crosses Belarus and Ukraine and is the only one carrying Russian oil products to Hungary.

Flows via the pipeline, which was built in Soviet times and meets around a third of Ukraine's diesel demand, have been suspended as violence in Ukraine plunge East-West relations to their lowest since the Cold War.

However, Transneft said its decision was unrelated to the Ukraine crisis.

Spokesman Igor Dyomin said Transneft started work to mothball the pipeline just before an April 25 court hearing in Ukraine, in which the Ukrainian prosecutor's office claimed ownership over the pipeline.

30,000 barrels a day to Hungary alone, or 1/3rd of daily usage.

Reuters is about two days late with this news, but this is the first English source I have seen it in.

Ukraine is trying to claim control of the pipeline, but this is likely a response to the announcement that Hungary, Czech Republic would backfill gas to Ukraine.

Can Ukraine/Hungary purchase oil from England?
Does all of Europe buy oil from Father Russia?

The UK imports diesel. They do not have a surplus for export.

The Russian concern with Ukrainian Russians is certainly undeniable.

Doubling the cost of natural gas...

Cutting off the oil...

Gosh, if only they could cut off the food and water supply, those Russians in the Ukraine would be safe once again.

I think Russia supplies about a third of their needs.

If you lost a third of your needed oil it would be a disaster...just imagine that happening here and what the lines at gas stations would look like. Industry would go into an instant slump.

The EU should have never made themselves so dependent...the same also goes for us though, we should be supplying all our fuel needs from internal sources.

Right over the target, FRiend. Russia cut off some gas and sent them Chechens instead. What a bargain.

Turkey needs to close the Bosporis to Russian shipping as promised. NATO needs to strongly encourage the Turks. We’ll see who blinks then. That ends any gains that Putin may have had and hands him a major problem.

“Turkey needs to close the Bosporis to Russian shipping as promised”

That would be a blatant act of war against Russia.
You have your own stocked fallout shelter, I take it?

The problem is the leftists in both DC and Berlin. That German FM is an old school red. Just like the kenyan. Two peas in a pod. I imagine they will wake up after 10,000 or so people are killed and Putin is bombing NATO capitals. Until then hold tight.

That was out there after Russia moved into the Crimea. Russia already crossed the line Turkey set for their treatment of the Tatars. The latest news doesn’t show any improvement.

If you’re looking for a blatant act of war all you have to do is read the Ukrainian reports of the provocateurs. So far they’ve shot down four Ukrainian helicopters. One of the latest reports is they started using mortars to try and stop the Ukrainian army.

FWIW, I was happy a bunch of the Russian scum got their just deserts in Odessa. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!

“One of the latest reports is they started using mortars to try and stop the Ukrainian army.”

Not surprising, considering the Ukes were using heavy artillery and Helicopter rockets against Kramatorsk.

How many snuff dead body pics did you post last week?

And we’re the “haters”? Really your hate stuff is bizarre. None of us did what you did last week. Give it a rest.

Since you feel so strongly, send me $2,000 for a round trip plane ticket and I’ll pack up my .30-06 with enough ammo to clear a few Russian provocateur minds.

The Ukrainian army ought to consider putting together a group for American hunters who want to help defend Ukraine against the KGB scum.
