White House Suggests it Won’t Cooperate with Benghazi Panel

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney today indicated the White House will refuse to cooperate with a new House committee tasked with investigating Benghazi.

“We have always cooperated with legitimate oversight,” Carney said this afternoon during the daily White House briefing. Asked whether the panel qualified as “legitimate,” he said: “I think if you look at what even some Republicans have said, it certainly casts doubt on the legitimacy of an effort that is so partisan in nature.”

“You know, at some point, you just have to assume that Republicans will continue this because it feeds a political objective of some sort,” he added. “At the same time you have to ask, ‘What about the American people who want to see Congress work for them?’”

Meanwhile, House Speaker Boehner today announced that Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) will chair the Benghazi committee.

“With four of our countrymen killed at the hands of terrorists, the American people want answers, accountability, and justice,” Boehner said. “Trey Gowdy is as dogged, focused, and serious-minded as they come.”

This is basically the declaration of a dictatorship by the coup plotters. They are making it so that the USA is no longer a nation a laws and this is corroding the very foundations of the country.

Never forget what the democrats did to “Scooter” Libby. Fitzgerald KNEW Dick Armitage was the one who disclosed Plame’s employment. Granted, she was not “covert” and her administrative CIA job was an “open secret.”

The left KNEW it was a BS issue. They still went after the Bush administration with everything they could.

Why won’t the Right do the same thing over a REAL ISSUE?

The American people have to demand that they cooperate.

“WHO GAVE THE STAND DOWN ORDER?” That is THE QUESTION

No it isn't.

It's not even very important.

You agree that POTUS has discretionary authority over military operations in foreign countries, do you not? That is, Obama could have sent troops into Benghazi, or he could have not sent them. He was completely within his authority, in either case.

Americans might have changed their minds about reelecting him, or not, had this all been clear in 2012. We will never know, and he will never face the electorate again.

So, the question now is, did Obama commit a CRIME that will result in his removal on September 11-12, 2012, or did he not? It is no longer a question of embarrassing him, or making him look bad - neither of those things will shorten his term by one day.

Of course he gave the "stand down" order. He was completely within his legal rights to do so. The people who reelected him knew he was a coward, knew he was a Muslim sympathizer (at least), and knew he was against overseas military engagements.

There is nothing that the select committee can do that will result in his removal from office.

The American people can respond to Obama and Carney et al. in November at the polls, ya think?

This is about what we were doing there in the first place, illegal arms smuggling to AlQaeda and others. And it is about the cover up. And it is about four Americans who were killed. And it is about the twenty or so survivors of the attack who have been made to disappear and not talk to anyone.

I wonder how the Dems (and their media pals) would have responded if Nixon had said he wouldn’t cooperate with the Watergate Select Committee?

"Oooo, oooo, Mr. Kotter, I know the answer!"

"It's a trick question, Nixon was not African American!"

I hate to be a wet blanket, but yes, Obama and the Dems will indeed get away with this strategy.

Obama knows it will work, the Dems know it will work, and the GOPe knows it will work. Who in the hell is going to challenge him on this?

Nothing will come of this.

Sowing hopeless defeatism sucks.

It’s the way wars are lost, not won.

The winds are changing.

It almost sounds as though you hope nothing comes of this.

I wonder how the Dems (and their media pals) would have responded if Nixon had said he wouldn’t cooperate with the Watergate Select Committee?

You mean like, say, ordering his Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox?

Republicans didn't wait for the Democrat response. Richardson resigned as Attorney General instead.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Eric Holder to resign in disgust over Obama refusing to cooperate with Congress.

Another difference between how Republicans and Democrats treat the trust of their offices.

They can respond all they want but it won’t make a difference. Too much cheating by the Bad Guys.

This is about…

I understand why Benghazi is loathsome to patriots. But that won't get Obama removed.

Obama will be removed for crimes, or he won't be removed. Benghazi won't do the job, which is why the Weeper of the House will accept this but won't empale a select committee to investigate the IRS matter.

I have read somewhere that General Ham of Africom
said that he thought that F16s would not be useful
in a crowded Arab city. So none were sent that way.

would anyone like to comment? thanks.
