MSNBC’s Racist Cinco de Mayo: White Guy Pretends to Get Drunk on Tequila While Wearing Sombrero
wIZBANG ^ | May 5, 2014

The banner across the bottom of the screen proclaimed “Mexican Heritage Celebration.”

So, a sombrero-wearing white guy pretending at being drunk was the way MSNBC decided to “celebrate” Cinco de Mayo? And no one wants to scream “rraaaaaacism” at that?

And can we just dispense that this is a celebration of Mexicn heritage? If you were to ask someone born and raised in Mexico City how he celebrates Cinco de Mayo, he would look at you almost as if you were speaking German.

Mexicans do not celebrate any such holiday as Cinco de Mayo. It is an American-created holiday, not a Mexican one. In fact, it had its genesis in our own civil war. It had nothing whatever to do with Mexico.

The Tigers are just trying to make the Astros feel at home.

If they wanted to make the Astros feel at home, then no fans should have showed up.

I don’t care if they want to celebrate it but I’ll be damned if I’m going to take down my American flag or tiptoe around to avoid offending them

Or take down my -- not one, but -- two Battle Flags, one of them regulation ANV, but the one on top a big blue General Taylor w/ reversed colors, fimbrations, and white border all around just like the ANV flag.

Guero enough for ya, amigos?

C'mon, everybody knows that Cinco de Mayo is a holiday invented by the U.S. Mexican restaurant industry in order to sell lots of tequila drinks, fajitas and "sampler platters."

And I say there's nothing wrong with that. I think Mexican food in the U.S. is way better than the Mexican food in Mexico. I like the way they put a big bowl of tortilla chips in the middle of the table when you sit down (and free refills too).

Those appetizers are good. Jalapeno poppers, pork taquitos and chicken quesadillas. Washed down with a pitcher of margaritas. Then on comes the burritos, enchiladas, chile rellenos and steak & shrimp fajitas with the rice, beans, cheese and salsa. I like the way the skillet sizzles with sautéed onions and peppers along with the shrimp and steak. Then you take those flour tortillas and wrap that stuff all inside into some kind of Mexican sandwich.

They tell you not to touch the skillet because it's hot. And they are right, it really is hot and it stays hot for the entire meal. Even when it is time to go, it is still warm to the touch.

I like Cinco de Mayo. And I like Mexican food. Especially when you get to listen to that mariachi music over the loudspeakers of the restaurant. It puts you in a mood to drink yet more tequila. They should have MORE Mexican restaurants in the U.S. and more Cinco de Mayos.

Mexican culture is fun. They wear funny hats and strange costumes. And they speak in Spanish even though they come from Mexico! I always thought that was peculiar. Do they speak Mexican in Spain? I don't know. I've never been to Spain and I don't know much about it. I read a Ernest Hemingway book about Spain and I think Columbus sailed from there back in 1492. I'm going to go ahead and read the Wikipedia article about Spain so I can learn more about it. But not before I fix myself a margarita on the rocks with Patron, Cointreau and some squeezed lime juice.

You have people up north celebrating Mardi Gras and Juneteenth now.

It’s all messed up.

Duh... because the people who lived in Mexico were Spanish? In case you didn’t realize, Spain fought on the side of Emperor Maximilian.

True, eventually Maximilian was overthrown, but then again, ultimately the Russian Marxists dominated Mexico in the 20th century.

But to make it meaningful, we can think of it as "Humiliation of the French Army Day."

Bravo!
