Pizza Express is serving ritually-slaughtered halal chicken in every dish on its menu that uses the meat, it has emerged, but customers are only told that the chicken they are eating is killed in line with strict Islamic law if they ask staff, as it is not stated on menus.
Under Islamic law, chicken can only be eaten if the bird’s throat has been slit while it is still alive. A Koranic verse is also recited during the ritual.

I love pizza too much to let something like Muslims take over as to what they cannot serve. I cannot imagine eating a NY/NJ style pizza with halal meat instead of regular pepperoni. I would go balistic!

As someone else said, Halal is simply a Muslim rip off of the Jewish tradition of slaughtering livestock and poultry. I’m old school and would never, ever eat a pizza with chicken, beef or ham on it.
Pizza Express is a British pizza chain that serves good pizza. When the food in London was so bad in the past, you could always count on Pizza Express for nice food. Of course, the food now in London is wonderful.
What about pepperoni though? That’s old school, but according to them only halal meats would be used and I’m guessing that would also include pepperoni.
Of course, pepperoni. I don’t happen to like it but my husband smothers his pizza in that stuff. I just don’t like those little shoe heels stuck on my slice!
