Former presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Wednesday will endorse Republican Ben Sasse for Nebraska's Senate seat, National Journal has learned, yet another high-profile endorsement for the Cornhusker State conservative ahead of his competitive primary.
Santorum, who finished second to Mitt Romney in 2012's GOP presidential primary, is particularly popular with social conservatives, and in his endorsement, he touted Sasse's strict opposition to abortion rights.
"Ben Sasse will be a fighter on life issues and on issues that support our families," Santorum said in a statement. "Ben Sasse says he will be a 'champion for the unborn,' and I believe him. With Ben's leadership on pro-life issues and his family's long history of involvement in the pro-life cause, I know Ben will make the pro-life fight a central part of his Senate tenure on day one."
Sasse faces former state Treasurer Shane Osborne and bank President Sid Dinsdale in what has become a de facto three-man race for the state's GOP nomination. Sasse has been boosted by the support of most conservative groups, such as the Club for Growth, the Senate Conservatives Fund, and FreedomWorks, making him the front-runner in a race that's nevertheless expected to be very close. Nebraska's primary is May 13.

Wow, twice in a month i agree with RS ..and yes, Sasse is probably the best candidate in the nation.
I hope Sasse wins.
People ask me, Do Republicans care as much about the poor as Democrats do? Santorum said at a New York meeting of conservatives. Im not sure we do. Im not sure we do. And the reason Im not sure we do, is because I dont hear us talking about them very often. - Rick Santorum about a week ago.
I hope Sasse wins.

Me too. And, even more important, I hope that when he gets to Washington and the GOP establishment and their friends start whispering sweet thing into Sasse’s ear that he remembers all the knives they were trying to insert in his back this year.

Believe me, I’m totally sick of the man. But if his endorsement gains even one vote for Sasse and helps him get the nomination, then I’m grateful.
Maybe that’s why Shirley Q. Liquor refers to him as Rick Sanitarium.
Tea Party and RS agree on Ben. Hope he wins...
