When my grandson was born, it was tough to get the kid circumcised. That was ten years ago.
For extensive description of this practice performed to various degrees on various girls as young as 4, read “Infidel” by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She and her little sister had parents who were against doing this. When her grandmother was caring (?) for them she had the operation performed. Her little sister later committed suicide as a result of ensuing mental problems. Last I heard she was living in the US and working with/for? The American Enterprise Inst.
While followed and practiced extensively in many Muslim countries, this practice also has a foundation in non Muslim African cultures.

Some of these mutilations (in addition to removal of the clitoris) consist of cutting the labia and sewing them together ....and the part often left out of descriptions...TYING THE GIRLS LEGS TOGETHER FOR A FEW WEEKS TILL THE CUT OR ABRADED LABIA HEAL TOGETHER...leaving a small hole for urine and menstrual blood. Then the girl is sealed till marriage. The wound is torn open ....OUCH....for intercourse then sewed up to heal until childbirth, then torn open again... in some type of psychotic chastity belt out of a horror movie....these people are insane.
