I’m almost glad he lost.

As for me, I’m almost glad he lost.

At least limited government conservatives can fight Obama's agenda using the only political option currently available, the Republican party, in that fight. Had Romney won, limited government conservatives in the Republican party would have been totally neutered and because of your support, fwdude, the Republican party would have led the way in advancing every one of the left's statist agendas, from global warming and nationalized health care, to abortion and the gay agenda.

When you voted FOR Romney, you voted FOR the Republican party and America to swing HARD LEFT. And had that bastard won and was right now pushing all the leftist crap and tyranny we stand against, folks like you would have been caterwauling and wailing "I didn't vote for that, I voted against Obama!"

You're damned RIGHT I'm glad Romney lost. YOU SHOULD BE EVEN GLADDER, because if the bastard had won, YOU would be accountable for all the leftist amoral tyranny Romney would be advancing via Republican means. Because YOU voted for it.

Site the polls AND the questions.

Most Americans know minimum wage is an entry level wage for the unskilled and part time and only about 4% of ALL wage earners make the minimum.

Uh, I didn’t vote for Romney. Not sure where you think I claimed I did.

That being said, I heartily agree with your entire post!

I assumed you did because you said you were “almost” glad he lost. I am VERY PLEASED to hear that you didn’t vote for him. Atta dude!

It’s a surreal conundrum. I’m infinitely sorry that Homobama “won,” even though that meant that Romney lost. We have the worst of both worlds. Don’t know where my emotions fit into that unconscionable choice.

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/01/minimum-wage-increase-poll-101950.html

according to this fairly recent poll 72% of American support raising the minimum wage.

My argument isn't for the minimum wage, it's for not alienating 72% of the population. I mean... that's approaching constitutional amendment levels of support. I just don't think this particular issue is important enough to throw ourselves on the fire for.

Well, I'm pretty ticked that I wasted a perfectly good rant on somebody who didn't even vote for the jerk!! {^)

Seriously, though, I have to say that I am less sorry that Obama won that I'd be if Romney had won. Romney absolutely would have had worse long-term consequences for America.

He's going to try again in 2016, you watch. He's ten times worse than Obama in real terms, much more dangerous with potential to wreak MORE destruction if only because being the defacto head of the Republican party, if he made the White House, he would sabotage any conservative action against statists FAR more than Obama or any other Democrat could even hope to accomplish.

Obama was bad news. Romney was AND REMAINS worse news.

If I were running for office, I would make the best case I could against raising the minimum wage, and then throw my hands up and say, but... if that’s was a vast majority of the people want, i’ll vote for it. But I honestly feel it’s a mistake and I will work night and day to try to change the minds of the American people and try to help them see this is NOT the way.

First, Politico isn’t a great source. Second, no where in the article did they give me the poll question asked.

I personally don’t give a feces about how many in this “poll” might be alienated. What was the question?

Being against Obamacare approaches constitutional amendment levels but no one seriously talks about repealing it in the GOP.

My main point is that this particular issue isn’t important enough to fight for.

If the minimum wage passes, inflation will increase a little and some young kids and a few poor people (who probably vote democrat anyway) will lose their jobs. Is that outcome really worth throwing away the ability to pick the next supreme court nominee?

Again my argument isn’t for the minimum wage, my argument is just that it’s just not worth fighting for something like this when some much else that really matters is at stake.
