Pelosi: We Won't Be Sending Democrats to Benghazi Select Committee Because Fairness
Townhall.com ^ | May 9, 2014 | Katie Pavlich

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner this afternoon saying she would not be sending any Democrats to sit on the Benghazi select committee because it "isn't fair," or something. More from the Washington Examiner:

Democrats say they are concerned it will not allow their party to participate fairly in the investigation, which will involve subpoenas and viewing of classified materials related to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

According to a Democratic leadership aide, Pelosi rejects a rule that will not prevent chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., from issuing unilateral subpoenas without consulting with Democrats. The rules would also allow Republicans to prevent Democrats from interviewing witnesses.

Democrats say they do not want a repeat of the investigation conducted by the House Oversight panel, headed by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., which they believed was highly politicized: “Regrettably, the proposal does not prevent the unacceptable and repeated abuses committed by Chairman Issa in any meaningful way, and we find it fundamentally unfair.”

When should we call the waaambulance? Like I wrote yesterday, get ready for more temper tantrums from Democrats on this issue. This is only the beginning. The good news is Republicans are moving forward without her, as they should.

She rejects??? What's she gonna do, jail him?

I just got my absentee ballot to vote in California's 8th Congressional District. I voted a couple of times in the past just to vote against her, but Duh, it's San Francisco, and not worth the cost of a stamp.

This is the Rubicon. The Dems just presented the chance for true justice to win out. If the GOP plays hardball now, we ‘could’ see America be that place again soon. Because it will take down the Dems entirely and leave their powerbase in shambles.

That's the strategy:

1. The House Democrats won't participate in the Committee's investigation.

2. The White House and State Department won't cooperate with the Committee's efforts and will refuse to respond to their subpoenas.

The resultant dispute will involve the courts, naturally. But the 1st Circuit is a mixed bag and not necessarily reliable in what amounts to an open and shut case of Executive Department lawlessness.

So, how should Gowdy and the Republican House respond to the situation...???

"good, we can get the hearings done in half the time"

Yes, this is a very, very good thing.

Won't have to worry about the Dim grandstanding, disruption and LEAKS of strategy and evidence.

It will be alot more fun to see Dims surprised by some blockbuster revelation in Testimony they didn't know was coming.

How cool.

Of course this is also a strong signal the Hut will not release anything. No email. No docs.

No testimony.

GOP needs a whistleblower.

I propose that we rename the Democratic congress critters the “Chain Gang.”

At least it will get them used to the sound of it for future purposes . . .

Good. Now the Republicans should focus on the task at hand and get to the truth. There won’t be any diversions and speeches to distract by the disloyal opposition.
If anyone brings up the sequester for the lack of security, find out where the missing $6B of State Department money went while you’re at it.

GOP needs to set up a youtube/Facebook channel and speak on it constantly about EVERY refusal to cooperate. In depth. Bypass the media.

Works when Palin uses it.

All representatives of both parties are up for reelection, not just certain ones

The Democrats were all fired up over the 9-11 commission so they could but Bush and Cheney on the stand. Now they don’t want a Benghazi investigation at all. Typical.

If my memory is correct, the Select Committee will consist of nine Republicans and seven Democrats. And, seven Democrats voted for the creation of the Select Committee. The solution here is for the Speaker to ask those seven to serve on the Select Committee.
