It is hard not to have total contempt for a political culture that thinks the picture at right is a useful contribution to rescuing 276 schoolgirls kidnapped by jihadist savages in Nigeria. Yet some pajama boy at the White House evidently felt getting the First Lady to pose with this week's Hashtag of Western Impotence would reflect well upon the Administration. The horrible thing is they may be right: Michelle showed she cared - on social media! - and that's all that matters, isn't it?

#unlesswehaveapresidentwithballs all is lost.
You’ll know the Liberals are serious when they start to leave flowers and teddy bears in front of the school where the girls were kidnapped.
Waiting for the next all female rock band to name themselves Kidnapped Nigerian Schoolgirls.
Our peaceful “American” Muslims are totally outraged about this abduction in Nigeria and they’re letting you know that in no uncertain terms.
I was thinking of the slang term for said glands and was going to suggest #BringBackOurBoys.
AC/DC (not for the white-suck metrosexuals)
Great article... I bet this hashtag is on Twitter now.
We won’t employ rules of engagement appropriate to the situation
You locate the leader of Boko Haram and his people. You insert Seals by fast helicopter You execute them all leave them face down on the ground with their feet facing Mecca. You cover them in pig guts and blood and leave. The word will spread
That would require our CIC to actually have a pair of testicles he could use for more than BB's. I keep missing Reagan and his response to the Achille Lauro: You can run but can't hide.
#OurGirls, British, French, Americans, Israelis, Germans, Aussies.
One of these things is not like the others - can you find it?
Again, why should the US get involved in this mess?
We shouldn’t risk any American lives to rescue these people. Lend advisors maybe, But no ground troops.
The face has just the right expression..
First of all, They’re not OUR girls... They’re Islam’s girls.
They are the one’s who should be out raged and do something about it.As always, the west gets blamed for their monstrous behavior. It’s their problem and when we try to help, we will get stabbed in the back as always.
Maybe a stern letter to The Times will do the trick?
"Once in US history an episode of Islamic terrorism was very quickly stopped. It happened in the Philippines about 1911, when Gen. John J. Pershing was in command of the garrison. There had been numerous Islamic terrorist attacks, so "Black Jack" told his boys to catch the perps and teach them a lesson.
Forced to dig their own graves, the terrorists were all tied to posts, execution style. The US soldiers then brought in pigs and slaughtered them, rubbing their bullets in the blood and fat. Thus, the terrorists were terrorized; they saw that they would be contaminated with hogs' blood. This would mean that they could not enter Heaven, even if they died as terrorist martyrs.
All but one was shot, their bodies dumped into the grave, and the hog guts dumped atop the bodies. The lone survivor was allowed to escape back to the terrorist camp and tell his brethren what happened to the others. This brought a stop to terrorism in the Philippines for the next
Pointing a gun into the face of Islamic terrorists won't make them flinch. They welcome the chance to die for Allah. Like Gen. Pershing, we must show them that they won't get to Muslim heaven (which they believe has an endless supply of virgins) but instead will die with the hated pigs of the devil.
Mark Steyn ping.
Freepmail me, if you want on or off the Mark Steyn ping list.
Thanks for the ping Slings and Arrows.
“First of all, Theyre not OUR girls... Theyre Islams girls.”
I thought they were Christians? There was all that talk about “converting” them to Islam.
Some were/are Christian, others Muslim. Boko Haram believes no woman/girl should be educated in anything other than the Qur’an.
Of course the Lib idiots won’t blame the kidnappings on Islam.
That’s why Liberals love hashtags, it’s another way they can show how much they care; like the stupid ribbons.
There are only a half-dozen special forces around the planet capable of doing that without getting most or all of the hostages killed: the British, the French, the Americans, Israelis, Germans, Aussies, maybe a couple of others. So, unless [elite Special Forces action] . . . is being lined up, those schoolgirls are headed into slavery, and the wretched pleading passivity of Mrs Obama's hashtag is just a form of moral preening.Theodore Roosevelt said, It is not the critic who counts . . . the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena . . . That is what liberalism" used to mean everywhere - and what it continued to mean elsewhere, long after the inversion of the meaning of the word in America in the 1920s.
But then what isn't? The blogger Daniel Payne wrote this week that "modern liberalism, at its core, is an ideology of talking, not doing".
In America now, The idea around which liberalism' coheres is that NOTHING actually matters except PR. Which I adopted as my tagline there for a while . . .
Once understand that liberalism is simply PR uber alles, and the reason why the masters of PR - objective journalists - would be simpatico with liberalism becomes excruciatingly obvious.
As to why journalists are able to coalesce around a single ideology, and to monopolize the claim to objectivity, that is precisely the sort of conspiracy against the public which is, and Adam Smith asserted in Wealth of Nations, only to be expected when People of the same trade "meet together" as persistently as journalists communicating via the Associated Press newswire do.
