The Cavalry That Never Came ... Mark Steyn
Steyn Online ^ | 9May 2014 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 05/10/2014 1:37:04 AM PDT by Rummyfan

A week before the 2012 election, I wrote:

Someone at the highest level of the United States government made the decision to abandon American consular staff to their fate and cede U.S. sovereign territory to an al-Qaeda assault team — and four out of five Sunday news shows don't think it's worth talking about.

In the smoking ruins of that consulate in Benghazi, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods fought for hours and killed 60 of the enemy before they were overwhelmed, waiting for the cavalry that never came. They're still waiting – for Candy Crowley, David Gregory, Bob Schieffer, and George Stephanopoulos to do their job.

Democrats and their media enablers openly giggle at the word "Benghazi" now. So funny, isn't it? Those provincial simpletons at Fox News are still droning on about dead Americans in Benghazi as if anybody but their drooling rubes care about it, ha-ha... If the Democrats are right about that, it doesn't speak well for the American people. Those four Americans died serving the United States - not Obama, not Clinton, but their fellow Americans. And they're owed not the mawkish, hollow, self-serving eulogies written by hack staffers for the President and the Secretary of State to read over the coffins, but the truth about how and why they died. It's odd, even for the insular Obama cultists, that so many people find that a laughing matter.

Never forget the other part of the Calvary that never arrived: Mitt Romney.

I well recall the sinking feeling in my stomach when Romney let Candy Crowley double team him in the debate. He should have pivoted his whole campaign the next day to put the focus on Benghazi and even more importantly, the media malfeasance that that incident illustrated.

...there isn’t a party waiting in the wings with the power, and principle to just take over.

You are absolutely correct but, unfortunately, we are already on the Cloward-Piven trajectory to societal collapse.

We will need to overthrow the socialist tyranny that will be established after the collapse (2-4 years) to try to reform a more just government.

The chance of that government granting true freedom to the citizens is right between slim and fat.

Freedom, in the American sense, will not exist on this planet as long as Man rules himself.

I agree that the GOP-e is almost as corrupt as the Democrats but with the massive voter fraud that is being slowly uncovered why blame conservative Republicans.
If you have to point a finger it should angle straight toward the dems and their union supporters, the folks selling their vote, voting multiple times in multiple states and districts, and this is the dems doing. I don’t see anyone, even the dems, accusing Republicans of these types of theft.
Maybe one more time we try and help Republicans win then drop em if they don’t perform. It beats the hell out of a mutual suicide pact that seems to be forming. I have talked to a lot of people who asked me who voted for Obama in the last election and see very few bumper stickers that say Democrat anything on them leads me to believe that the fraud was more massive then anyone seems to think.
Maybe we are past the ballot box and into the next box already.

Its obvious that the commissars circulated the video story to protect Obama and aid his reelection. However the Republicans must now have a compelling narrative to tell and witnesses who are willing to come forward with detailed testimony. There are frustrated and humiliated senior officers who were ordered to stand down and remain silent. The Democrats are very frightened and simply do not know what to do.

the RINOs want to lose

Their words and their actions certainly point to that fact.

With reference to your post 13, I really hope that there is a contingent of principled people to take back the Republican Party. Unfortunately, I am not a leader or anyone who has the ability to be a strong participant in any movement to carry out such a movement. I can only stand on the sidelines and hope, albeit with a large helping of the pessimism that I expressed. I would add that my pessimism is helped along by my strong conviction that the American electorate has changed for the worse by the addition of the famed low-information voter, whose ranks have apparently greatly increased with the growth of the welfare state. If anything destroys this country, it will be this kind of individual, not people like me, who simply long for real conservative candidates to get them to the polling place.

If I am to be criticized for that, so be it. I can only state what I believe.

Therefore, I have to simply re-state my position that as presently constituted, I will not do anything, such as vote for the Republican Party’s likely-upcoming national candidates (the usual wishy-washy Jeb Bush types) or donate funds to the Party.

While the Democrats are experts at voter fraud, I don’t think that there has been enough of it to throw the presidency to Obama. The truth, that I think is much more frightening, is that more voters wanted Obama to be president that McCain or Romney.

I think the socialist strategy the Democrats have used is starting to pay off. They go to blacks, and tell them if they don’t vote for them, slavery and segregation will come back. The go to hispanics, and promise amnesty. They tell women that men are mistreating them, and they will put a stop to it. They go to homosexuals and promise to make everyone love and agree with them. On top of that, they promise free things to everyone, and someone else will pay for them.

The middle class, the bastion of conservativism, has been gutted, all according to plan. The sad part is that Republicans have helped Democrats do it by playing nice and letting them set the rules and frame the debate.

Recently Rand Paul met with some black pastors who told him asking for an ID at the polls is offensive to blacks. Rand Paul is now against requiring voters to show an ID. John Boehner wants to ram amnesty down our throats this year.

The GOP has turned homicidal against its base.

“The chance of that government granting true freedom to the citizens is right between slim and fat.”

“Freedom, in the American sense, will not exist on this planet as long as Man rules himself.”

Both statements are absolutely and fundamentally wrong.

Government does not grant Freedom! Our government is the means to protect freedom of individuals. One should never forget that, “we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalianable rights, that among these are life, LIBERTY,” etc.

Unless man enjoys self rule, he will never be free in the sense granted by God.

Exactly. Had he done so, he would probably be President today. He was thrown a hanging curve ball right down the middle and he watched it go by for strike three.

RINOs are as gutless and feckless as the Democraps are evil.

Only one person can say no, O. And if he thought that saying no was a wise decision he would have held a press conference. The fact that we still don’t even know where he was tells us everything we need to know.

The contempt they show for these men who died is the creepiest part. It's like watching shallow kids of the 'in' high school clique dump on the nice kids. Shameful.
