Jack in the Box Caves to Gun Control Pressure, Restricts Open Carry

Jack in the Box, a popular fast-food restaurant chain, has followed Starbucks' unfortunate lead in limiting its customers' Second Amendment rights. Friday, the company announced it would start enforcing its no-firearms-in-stores policy. Jack in the Box’s Vice President of Corporate Communications Brian Luscomb released this statement:

“The presence of guns inside a restaurant could create an uncomfortable situation for our guests and employees and lead to unintended consequences.”

The company's decision comes a day after gun control group Moms Demand Action launched a petition to pressure the restaurant to enforce the policy. They started the campaign in response to a semi-automatic rifle demonstration inside a Texas-based Jack in the Box restaurant last week that terrified customers so much they locked themselves in the store's freezer, according to police.

Moms Demand Action has a history of making false accusations against gun rights activists in order to push their political agenda -- and then refusing to apologize for it. Here's a video of founder Shannon Watts literally running away from conservative talk radio host Dana Loesch.

With this latest political stunt, Moms Demand Action has proven they're not quite done with stripping Americans' of their Second Amendment rights. The group patted themselves on the back for Jack in the Box's decision with this statement on their Facebook page:

YOU DID IT, MOMS! We’ve proven again and again that when moms speak up, American businesses listen. Like Starbucks, Facebook and Instagram, Jack in the Box has answered our call to put public safety first.

Of course, it wouldn't be proper gun control activism without a picture of a young girl eating a hamburger. They need to invoke the 'it's all about the children' card somehow:

I heard one of the guys involved in the gun demonstration on Dallas talk radio this week (WBAP I think) and he vehemently denied that anyone locked themselves in the freezer. He says the police report is false. Employees were standing around wanting their pictures taken, etc. and the store’s manager denies the “freezer” report, too. If I can find a link, I will post the interview.

I am a woman, but sometimes I am appalled at the stupidity of them.

Posted to their “Contact us” page -

Re: your new corporate policy regarding firearms. I won’t find your establishments “inviting” any longer as I will find myself to be at the mercy of those who choose NOT to follow the law. I am not a sheep and will not hide or cower under a table hoping some lunatic won’t target me or mine.

You have every right to set your policies and I have every right to not patronize your establishments and I am choosing NOT to do so any longer.

So long Jack, on this I will not compromise. You submitted to folks who are bent on undermining my rights, thus, through your policy and corporate position, you are attempting to undermine them as well.

I hope the “moms” will step up and patronize your establishments at an increased rate in order to supplant the loss of my business and I’m sure the loss of patronage from many other responsible, sane and educated gun owners who feel more comfortable protecting themselves by exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.

I read that too. Do you remember what day it was? If I knew, I could find it in “History” on my mac.

If they have any franchises in Alaska and Texas, they will be forced to not follow corporate or close their doors due to little or no business.

If a bunch of guys carrying weapons descend on a business, a cash business that’s commonly robbed, what on earth are the employees supposed to think?

How about if the same group descended on a Chuck E. Cheese and you were there with your kid? Would you stay? I wouldn’t. Because there’s always the danger of an accidental discharge. Not worth the risk.

How does going out of your way to terrorize people win converts to the cause of the 2nd Amendment?

What will these “moms” say when some guy walks in and starts shooting everyone? This should be a message to all who believe in the constitution to stop buying from Jack in the Crack.

Did they restrict Concealed Carry Permit holders too?

It’s a Private Business. They can do what they want, just as their Customers can choose to be former Customers.

I forgot one thing. If Signs stopped Crime, we wouldn’t need Prisoners to pickup Litter along the Highway.

I’m willing to bet that more Children die or are seriously injured Choking on or getting Food Poisoning from Fast Food Restaurants than being shot while eating in one.

It’s not the Gun you see, it’s the one you don’t see.

Just ask any Criminal who was stopped by a person with a Concealed Carry Permit.

Your point is taken, not because Guns are a problem, but because we are now a Nation of Pussies who tinkle in their Panties whenever a Gun is even mentioned in Polite Conversation.

We would never have won WWII with the Population of fools and idiots that we have today in this Country. Apparently, if Hitler were Black, we would all be speaking German based on today’s ignorant adoration of The LYING One.

It won’t be much of a hardship boycotting these guys. Their food isn’t that good and a lot of them around here are gang and drug hangouts.

Well, it’s still men at the top in most of these corporations, and if they don’t do the right thing, there’s plenty of blame to go around.

“The presence of guns inside a restaurant could create an uncomfortable situation for our guests and employees and lead to unintended consequences.”

That's true. Of course, the ABSENCE of guns might make some people uncomfortable and lead to unintended consequences. Does that mean they're going to mandate every employee and guest must be armed at all times.

Thanks - I’ve seen that video several times. I really like Suzanna Hupp. She subs on KLBJ when SGT Sam is on vacation. She is a very smart woman and really gets under the Austin libs thin skin.

The power of boycott is a wonderful and potent thing.

Let corporations state their policies, and let the chips fall where they may.

I, for one, will never patronize a Starbucks or Jack-In-The-Box as long as such ignorant and ill-advised policies exist.

The idiots who run these corporations surely must realize that such policies will never be honored by anybody who intended harm to them or their employees.

Therefore, they reveal themselves to be nothing more than politically correct fools. They and their ilk deserve neither our esteem nor our patronage.

So be it.
