Poll: McConnell Crushing Tea Party Foe Bevin

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) holds a commanding lead over his tea party challenger, according to a new poll.

The NBC News-Marist poll released Monday found McConnell leading tea party challenger Matt Bevin 57 percent to 25 percent among likely Republican voters. That finding comes about a week before the Kentucky primary and follows recent polling which has shown McConnell with a wide lead over Bevin.

The poll also found that 51 percent of McConnell's supporters say they "strongly" support his candidacy for re-election while 53 percent of Bevin's backers say they strongly support him.

Bevin has argued that he's a stronger candidate against likely Democratic nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes in the general election. But a matchup between Grimes and Bevin in the new NBC News-Marist poll found Grimes leading Bevin among Kentucky registered voters, 46 percent to 37 percent. By contrast, when matched against McConnell, Grimes trails the top Senate Republican 46 percent to 45 percent among registered Kentucky voters.

The NBC News-Marist poll for Kentucky was conducted between April 30 and May 6 among 2,353 registered voters. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.0 percentage points. Among the 408 likely Republican primary voters surveyed, the margin of error was plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.

Blame the voters. This guy can’t win unless the voters there vote for him.

Put up or shut-up. No excuses about RINO money or cross over voting. You know who this guy is and if he is so hated then he will be gone.

As I have stated, this country’s problems are not going to be solved by elections.

The people of this country have been divided conquered and brainwashed so thoroughly that there isn’t going to be any stopping of this train at all.

Bad news. I look at it not so much as a vote of confidence for McConnell as an abstention against the unknown Bevin.

McConnell having only 51% strong support among his supporters speaks ill of him. As an incumbent leader he should at least be well into the 60s.

I think McConnell loses in Nov to Grimes.

Not surprising.

All the RNC and crony crapitalist money goes to McConnell.
Heck even the Democrats are going to do all they can to support McConnell.

Democrats figure that if they can’t have the seat themselves, officially, McConnell, the wimpy D.I.A.B.L.O. is the next best thing.

As I have stated, this country’s problems are not going to be solved by elections.

Those days are long gone. With the only major opposition party no longer opposing and its ranks are filled with more big government moderates and lefty liberals, the days of maintaining our liberties via the ballot box are through.

"Poll: McConnell Crushing Tea Party Foe Bevin."

Too bad for us all, a vote for McConnell is a vote to keep us headed in the same downward spiral.

Many voters are just stupid and do not know what is happening to them and the country.

Blame the voters. This guy can’t win unless the voters there vote for him.

We tea party folks in Tulsa dumped the RINO John Sullivan and elected Jim Bridenstein. We are also going to elect TW Shannon, a Black/Indian Conservative to the Senate.

Victory is secured by getting the message out on an individual basis. EVERYONE needs to get 10 people to see the light. And get those 10 to get 10 more minds changed.

Uhmmm...I’m not so sure Bevin is that much of a tea party candidate.

It’s not stupidity.

It’s greed.

Republicans are set to take the Senate and they know if they ditch McConnell then they lose out on that power. So now that victory is expected they want the gravy that having a majority Leader can net them.

Jokes on them if the Bevin supporters stay home and Grimes takes it.

Not just Bevin supporters. Every conservative who, in the past, has been reluctantly willing to vote for "moderate" Republicans as (at least) not as bad as Democrats has been publicly reviled by McConnell. I will not be spit on and threatened by the likes of Mitch McConnell, a man who would not be fit to polish my late father's shoes with his tongue.

McConnell has arrogantly given the finger to all conservatives here in Kentucky. You should see some of the mailings I've received from his campaign, disgusting. The irony being of course that he would NEVER go after Harry Reid or any Democrat like that.

Words and actions have consequences. How many feel as I do, I can't say. But I will not vote for him. If he beats Grimes it will be a squeaker (personally I don't think he can beat her; after the primary his campaign will go into full sissy mode). If he loses, I assure you he will not learn humility from the experience. Nor will the GOPe he represents.

Interesting news...

In my part of the state the only yard signs I have seen say Ditch Mitch and Bevin for Senate.

Also I was receiving nightly phone calls from McConnell’s Campaign surrogates doing push-polls. I haven’t had one in several days now.

So is this real? Or is it the McConnell campaign using the press to send out their message of doom and gloom for Bevin?

We’ll know after the vote is taken. I just hope it’s an honest on and no vote fraud.

Blame the voters.

Apparently, being Senate Minority Leader and a 5 term incumbent means that your election is completely disconnected from your actions. McConnell has bashed and bashed and bashed Bevin relentlessly. I've never seen more negative effort on any election. If Bevin does not win, I'm changing my registration. KY does not matter in the 2016 Primary anyway.

BTW, there is no way he wins the general if he loses 1/3 of his support. Any politician or pundit that tells me I have to vote for him in the general will COMPLETELY lose all credibility or future support with me and my family. We're done with rearranging the deck chairs.

I think McConnell loses in Nov to Grimes.

Possibly, but now the Chamber of Cronyism will have to continue to poor in money to McConnell for a general election win. This is good news.

Art of War is to find victory in defeat. The elites not only want to retain seats, they want to gain seats. Thus they are running in open seats and against some TEA type Congressmen. However, they are pouring so much money into McConnell and Thad Cochran, there is less money for open seats and target seats. In open primaries, the TEA party is doing much better.

At some point the elites have to move right in order to waive off primary challengers. Big money is going to get tired of spending money on the same guys while not gaining ground. Tea Party will have more Cruz, Lee and Paul which will weaken McConnell. Those who tire lose.

Yep.

Quite simply, there is no opposition party.

There is only government and us.

In other words there are the Rulers and the Ruled.

Those people who still believe that one half the government is for them or anything they care about, either side, are utter fools.
