Replacing fossil fuels with renewables as the worlds primary source of energy will not only save the planet from dangerous levels of warming it will also save the global economy US$ 71trillion by 2050.
This is the finding of a report, Energy Technology Perspectives 2014, released today by the International Energy Agency, which looks at the direction of the energy sector over the next 40 years.
The changes needed to keep the world within 2C of warming a widely agreed target in efforts to tackle climate change will benefit the global economy, confirms the report, although a coordinated policy approach will be required to unlock these savings.
The USD 44 trillion additional investment needed to decarbonise the energy system in line with the 2DS [2C scenario] by 2050 is more than offset by over USD 115 trillion in fuel savings resulting in net savings of USD 71 trillion, its says.
The findings support those who say that it is possible to decouple economic growth from emissionssomething the EU has strongly advocated as it has increased its wealth while at the same time remaining on track to reduce its emissions by 20% by 2020. In China, meanwhile, emissions have rocketed in order to sustain economic growth of around 10% a year.
The future of the energy system will depend upon the price of renewables, energy efficiency, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology and new climate policies, the report forecasts.
In a 2C scenario, it predicts that renewable energy will provide around 65% of electricity by 2050, compared to 20% in 2011.....

And I wonder how many TRILLIONS, in reality and honesty, frakking and using our own natural resources here in America, would save the economy? I bet those numbers would be higher and much more factual.
You betcha. And I’ve discovered the formula to turn lead into gold.
Save? More like shave.
I like the way these Capitalism Deniers pull numbers out of their arse.
They will be shocked as hell when 30 years from now they find themselves at the bottom of a cyclical solar minimum, and in cold climate up to their tushes.
This is insane! These people are insane! But what will silence them?
The Left has to lie about everything. It’s the only way they can get anybody to go along with them.
Yep. And BarryDon’tCare will save you $2,500 a year.
It’s gonna be great!
Liberal BS to convince the sheeple to pay higher taxes to the useless eaters in Washington DC to save them from this global warming menace
Like the medieval Catholic church selling indulgences
“You betcha. And Ive discovered the formula to turn lead into gold.”
Actually, I KNOW how to turn lead into gold! But, here’s the bad news: it will take a rather long time to make an ounce and it will cost approximately the world GDP from the middle ages to the present in electric bills to produce.
More like cost us that amount.
This is how fascists and dictatorships rise to power, and it is happening in the USA as we speak.
True, but the solution from them will be the same: "Renewable" energy mandated by government control. the change from catastrophic global warming to catastrophic global cooling will be as fast as the last time they switched the other way around.
It's not a real big secret. Wrap the lead with some brass, place it in a steel tube and find someone with gold.
Is there a new Holiday or Calendar Event I missed labeled, “LIV Propaganda Day”???
If this were true then there would be a shift to renewable energy by the private market because of economics. No government evolvement would be necessary.
So that's why the government shut down all the smelters!
Every day is LIV Propaganda Day. It gets more outrageous every year.

I don’t believe that nonsense for a second....
How can we save 115 trillion dollars when renewables will cost triple what we pay now....
Also they write “trillions” like it’s a buck 50 in pocket change....
Add to that the fact that ‘renewable energy’ still and cannot in the foreseeable future produce grid energy without fossil fuel backup.
Pretty soon, at the rate they’re going, a trillion will be about a buck fifty.
Figured I’d post the same at the ratt (or whatever) site.
It’s in moderation...hehehe.
