I was in Hong Kong a couple of months ago and happened upon some kind of political rally/protest,featuring many people,in a park near the Victoria Peak tram.Don't know what it was about...all the chants and placards were in Chinese...but the people seemed to be angry. There were a number of cops nearby...on foot,in cars and on motorcycles.I didn't see any threatening behavior on the part of the cops or the crowd.I asked one of the cops where the tram was and he told me but it was obvious that he had more important things on his mind.

Of course Hong Kong, technically speaking at least, has a very different set of laws, different police and different courts than does Mainland China.

Workers rioting is okay and encouraged before the revolution, never after.

I suspect the Red Chinese government is expecting trouble because they’ve already begun an economic descent (as jobs head further south to Burma, Malaysia, and such). Those Chinese that worked 16 hour days for a couple of years expecting to be able to buy things are mighty upset...

Big difference, Americans are ARMED.

Except that some people in black robes seem to think that the right to be armed doesn't extend beyond the front-door — and far too many people offer these shits unwarranted deference.
